I've said it before on here, I'm working my ass off here for the gov't. Not sure what the rest of the folks are doing to have it so easy.

Having worked with (not for) mega-corps on the telecommunications side and similar, I can tell you categorically that this is not true. Any organization over a certain size becomes bureaucratic by necessity, which then affords endless opportunities for people to hide. Delay, obfuscation and avoiding dealing with problems for fear of making what is perceived to be the wrong call are common. From speaking with others who've worked at or with huge outfits like Microsoft, my experience is not unique.In the private sector, it may happen for a while, but once someone powerful figures out that a group is not working in the best interests of the whole, things change fast and hard.
