I just don’t want to spend $600 on the side luggage and racks for the X. I’m liking the SHAD setup but would like a top box to fit my helmet.

Still haven’t figure out if I can just install the top box with the SHAD.

Go soft. I have soft bags for my enduros, hard on my DL, FJR and GL. if I had to do it again on the DL is would be be soft.

I don’t like top boxes. I have them for two of my bikes, only use them as a last resort.

To me they are just plain fugly.

Also bad at speed. Ape handling went to hell with top box on when moving quickly. A slow oscillation like an expanded metal bridge.

I think the best thing about the Shads is they stop the bike from falling over. You could attach training wheels to them they stick out so far.

I gave my dad a ride on the ape once. What a disaster. He's a big guy. So hard to keep the wheel down while accelerating and it pushed worse than a fwd car through the corners. I cut it short as it was bleeping dangerous.

Let's be honest here... They're all a bit fugly. We're talking about strapping luggage to the side/top of a motorcycle.

My gas mileage is horrid with these things on.

I could go kw to toronto then toronto to cambridge. Now bike is out of gas by guelph fton Toronto
