Does Music affect your Speed and riding style?

Was just thinking about earlier comment someone made that you would not hear stuff happening under your wheels.

Had 33 db earplugs in today and easy heard the tire scrunch and slip a bit on some gravel - was very distinct both the sound through the bike and and the feel of it. Much of that kind of noise is bone conduction anyway.

If anything it shuts out the constant wind buffeting noise and lets you hear/feel more of the road contact.

I DO love random.

I cant be in control of a motorized vehicule with metal playing. Makes me go nuts. Empowers me

Same. Whereas if I listen to top 40 I cruise at around the speed limit. Most things on the Edge make me drive a little crazy, my 90s music makes me dangerous and my metal/metalcore is just..watch out.

Watched Dark knight this Tuesday, ended up downloading the "Chant" from the prison escape scene and played it while riding back. I just felt this rush to speed and go dangerous, but very soon I realized I am not being myself and slowed down on DVP south @ 1:00Am in the morning. The point being does Music affect your style of riding, speed etc. Experiments have shown cows giving more milk, eating in greater Quantity given the type of Music therapy they were introduced to. Other animals were tested for similar results. Usually I listen to lectures while riding, but this time i switched due to my fondness for the chant and felt really strange. It felt as if the chant has taken control of my emotions and ability to be sensible for the time being. I guess this was the reason why they had war chants, Also the chants from the crowds watching the game have an effect on the players.....Would like to know your experience.

Here is the chant.

This is 30 minutes of continuous Chant

Will make a good workout music I believe.

Tron Legacy and Dark Knight soundtracks having me bobbing and weaving in the night like a sewing machine!

Personally, the weeping of my enemies and the lamentations of their women is all the music I need. [VIDEO]

HAHAHAHA

This part from the video is just f***ing hilarious!!!

And, on topic, I listen to music while driving, but sure as hell won't do it while riding.

I just love my self too much to end up as road kill for not paying attention 100% on the road.

I like to thrown on some Benny Hill, that really gets me going... in circles.

lol

[edit] Damn you OP... followed your link to the half hour chant, laughed and then wasted another 2 hours on random, unrelated youtube videos

Cool story incoming:

My normal ride to the WalMart is about 12 minutes there and 16 minutes back (timed lights). I was pretty upset tonight and I was blasting my most br00tal playlist. Did it in just about 1/3 the time.

No answer without a lawyer present!

I always have to rock one ear bud in while riding. One ear bud is good enough for me. I still can hear my bike purr and also be alert of noises around me. The only exception is when I ride 2up then no music, but other than that I need the dnb etc.

My son just bought a Sena bluetooth system and we tested it last week. I had his ipod linked to my headset and while I don't like his selection of music, riding with it on was mood altering since it is heady spacy music and very suited to riding, as I found out. It actually made the experience, dare I say, surreal. Immediately I thought about the affect of this on reaction time should I need to act quickly.

I'm convinced that the riding experience itself is so intoxicating that it needs nothing else as it would slow reaction time and for that reason I will not ride with music, although it was very satisfying for the short time I tried it.

I find my self riding with music going faster and i dont like it... i need to give 100% of my attention to the ***-whole who might cut me off or run me over

wait a min..op you listen to lectures while riding???

may be I should try that.... that'll bring the old GPA up

If I don't have music playing, that's when my mind wanders and I start day dreaming. You can get away with this in a car, but not on a bike. For me, music is what keeps me in check. Then it's just me, the bike, and good tunes, lets me concentrate on what is going on.

I used to think so... I started listening to Surf stuff like The Ventures...
It just seemed to make me think of that http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Vg70r41iCI Ben Spies commercial when they brought out TC on the 2012 R1, although it is more Funk admittedly.

Then Beach Boys "Little Deuce Coupe" came on... Well I'm not braggin man so don't put me down, but I've got the fastest set of wheels in town. When something comes up to me he don't even try, cause if she had a set of wings man I know she could fly.

It sounds pretty relaxed but something about those lyrics just seems to want to make me punch it.

With Rage Against The Machine on, your gettin stuffed in the corner everytime. (pistol grip pump on my lap at all times)

Music gives me courage to learn wheelies and without it I would be no-where. Nothing great has ever been achieved without music and enthusiasm. Jorian's drift inspires me a lot.

This is me. I find that music actually helps me to concentrate on the ride, less distracted by the the things that don't matter. NIN will do that for you.
