Do you listen to music while riding?

Love listening to music in car but, for some odd reason, can't imagine wanting to on the bike. My mind does a kind of hyper vigilance and wander when riding. If that makes any sense. I love the engine sound with ear plugs. Vroom Brapp Cockaphony Repeat. It feels like I'm either in a race or cruising pit lane. It's all good.

I tried once, having a smoke before setting off on a day ride, but it was terrible. Smoke puts me into my mind. That's what riding does. Doubling up on this was too much and not pleasant. Music is sort of the same. I like being connected to my bike physically and audibly. Listening to the motor purr is a beautiful thing.

Most of the time, I listen to music. Still can hear everything around me. Just the other day, a cop pulls beside me at a traffic light and honks. WTF! I'm thinking. She rolls her window down and says something but couldn't make it out. Open my visor and I heard her, 'your blinkers are on' Duh!!!

Trying to get a scala but not sure if it'll be for music or just plain communication. I dunno how music affects the mind while taking a corner at a "spirited" pace!

I wouldnt hear my motor over my 2 bros pipe anyways, all I hear is that thing so the music is great! Plus I dont smoke, so I need to get in that mind. Quit smoking and buy a loud pipe is the moral of the story here my friend.

I'll do music on long rides, I just did a 2 day ride back from Deals Gap back home via the Blue Ridge Parkway and US219. Music definitely made it a much more enjoyable trip.

Music in 1 ear while still able to hear someone coming up beside me on the same side as the earbud. I actually tend to forget that I have music on during longer (2hr+) rides. I commonly listen to the radio off my phone and get static after x kms North but usually don't notice that theres nothing but static until I stop.

I listen to beats on the track. helps me focus actually and keeps up the mental aggression and stamina I find. I seem to pick up on the mood of a song and tune out lyrics....it's like ambient rhythms to me

On longer rides I always take my i-Pod along.

I found a wireless full function remote made by Monster that I wear on my right forearm. This thing is waterproof and allows you to pause/restart or change the volume while riding so you can hear your friends when you chat while stopped at a light. This thing is great, unfortunately I couldn't find one in Canada, so I had to order online from the States; less than $30 shipped. I also use it while skiing.

No, I don't want to get distracted. Also, I find in this busy world I (we) live in, I never get any peace and quiet and time to myself, on my bike I do! No music for me...

Me, also - maybe it's an "older guy" thing.

It may well be. I'm one of those.

Now that I have a helmet that fits properly, what's a good mp3/earbud combo? Something that can be adjusted with gloves on, I suppose. Not interested in iPhone or Scala type setups yet. Thanks.
