Do you have a truck? trailor? need to pick up bike $$

Wow another thread has gone full-retard.

3BSW

Charge whatever you want, quote whatever you want, let the customer decide. I examine how long I think it'll take me, how much fuel, wear and tear on my vehicle and what I'm going to eat/drink then pick an appropriate amount. All i did was outline what brings me to that number. I'm not charging dude buddy guy for my food and coffee, all I am charging him for is the tow. I can do whatever the hell i want with my money. If I only have a coffee and a donut the tow is $300, if i stop at the Texas Roadouse for a steak the size of a toilet seat the tow is still $300. If I decide to bring a thermos with me and don't buy and food at all it's still $300.

When you pay for a tow would you expect to see it broken down to how much goes towards fuel, truck maintenance, operator wage, etc? Certainly not. All that matters is the hook-up fee and the per-km-rate.

Some people don't know how to read.

Everyone in this thread said "charge what you want" to some degree or another. It's up to him whether he accepts it or not. How or what you include is your own perogative.

Commenting on what you may or may not include (and therefore charge) doesn't = full retard. Someone not agreeing with you and throwing a hissy fit does.

Not only that but you shouldn't be charging for food or coffee either. My work doesn't pay for my lunch or coffee. Your hourly rate should include whatever you want it to include.

It'd be a lot cheaper to rent a truck for the day.

Seriously?

Seriously?

"your hourly rate should include whatever you want it to include"

Yes seriously. That means....charge whatever you want but personally I wouldn't include food or coffee in my hourly rate....like you implied (maybe I read that wrong) that you would.

So yes. Seriously.

Then you should have wrote "I wouldn't charge for food and coffee" instead of "You shouldn't charge for food and coffee"

Seriously.

Geeez, I think the OP gave up on this thread along time ago lol.

Seriously. Maybe I should have said "one" shouldn't charge for food and coffee. YOU doesn't mean you and if you always think it does then maybe you need to have your ego checked. Stop taking everything so personally. Sheesh.

If you are offering a service you can charge for whatever you feel like. It's up to the customer if they want to hire you or not.

Kinda like selling a bike...you can charge whatever you want for the bike...it's up to the buyer if they want it or not! ;)

Example: UPS freight...you will have to pay freight charge + fuel surcharge + tax.....

VS. Cardinal ...you only pay freight charge.

So a rate, hourly, does not have to include everything...a product or service can be priced out / broken down by any/all means...its up to the market & consumer to go with what suits their needs.

+ 1

and how happy are with UPS ? probably not because of all the extra charges...

Wow, some of you guys are expensive!!! I can understand the thought process though...
I suggested to the OP maybe a rental for the day would be cheaper...
maybe even borrow a car with a hitch and rent a trailer from Uhaul for $30 for the day, buy straps for $40 (have them for whenever you may need them that way).
Cheapest way there methinks...

You have suggested that there are items that one should not be charging for and you have also suggested that one can all charge whatever one wants? Do I understand that correctly?

Seriously?

her work not paying for her food and coffee, and people quoting prices for offering a service to potential customers

dude, it's like, totally the same

Caboose and Kellen tag teaming in the same thread.

Dude...it's like, totally predicatable. ;)

why should you be charging for gas for delivering a bike anyway? My work doesn't pay for my gas to get there

Outstanding work boys and girls. All that's missing is fbm accusing caboose483 of being horseist (horsist?).

How can you allow non-vendor members to quote the OP? don't people get banned for this sort of behavior?

Of course that would be cheaper, but I would imagine the OP had already thought of and dismissed that (unless he/she needs help thinking too). Perhaps the OP has no G license, needs help man-handling the bike, etc.

I don't think ANY of these quotes are expensive for what is being asked... but that's just my opinion.

I may be able to help. Was going to London anyway so I might be able to take my trailer and hit Chatham up. But I can only really pick up sport bikes because I don't want people to think I bought a Harley.

:laughing1:

lol

The Kellen-caboose bromance is as strong as ever. Don't hate.

Maybe because your avatar looks so similar
