from scarb to Chatham and back to scarb.. its a mission!

Where is the bike and where are you?

I might actually be able to do it on Saturday.

You're looking at about a 600km round trip.
May be able to help depending on times etc. Fuel/wear alone would be about $120-150 plus whatever we decide for time....
Might end up being cheaper for you to rent a truck for a day...

yeah time is money, if you can rent a van or truck or even a trailer (if your car will pull it)for less do that

Wow....anyone willing to do that for fuel is a saint.

$40/hr x 8 hrs = $320
600 kms = 80-90 litres of fuel....= $120

$440.

I pm'ed him and told him that fuel alone to run my v8 to lug a trailer isn't THAT cheap ... guestimating 15 or 16 L / 100km is my normal cruising mileage with the trailer on the back. then add time on top of that ... even at 20 / hr its 160 bucks in labor and that's not even wear and tear ... I think Omnivore is right more like 40 / hr

I'm with some of others on here that you should look into renting a truck / trailer to do this yourself. I can offer my help but I'm only avail. to haul this on Sunday morning.

Not far off the number i had in my head. It'd be about 75-80L of fuel in m Edge, plus food and coffee and my time. (I was only going to charge $30/hr tho). I was thinkin $300 :)

$30/hour x 10 hours = $ 300
600+ kms = 90L of fuel = $120
Wear / Tear + tires = $100

= thinking about $550 - $575

I don't think I could charge wear and tear if i'm charging an hourly rate... your hourly rate has to cover everything you do ... you don't see contractors charging you an hourly rate PLUS depreciation on there tools ... ?

Having said that ... IF it is a friend of mine then sure I'll eat the time and its fuel only. But again that's 'cuz they'd be a good friend of mine. and I've helped some friends move houses by doing this.

lesson? make good friends with people that have trucks and trailers :P

Not only that but you shouldn't be charging for food or coffee either. My work doesn't pay for my lunch or coffee. Your hourly rate should include whatever you want it to include.

It'd be a lot cheaper to rent a truck for the day.

If you are offering a service you can charge for whatever you feel like. It's up to the customer if they want to hire you or not.

I may be able to help. Was going to London anyway so I might be able to take my trailer and hit Chatham up. But I can only really pick up sport bikes because I don't want people to think I bought a Harley.

make your hourly rate all inclusive its up to him to hire you your right ... I'm not disputing that ... but then reflect that in hourly rate... if not this leads into all these hidden fees that are after the fact, you start driving "oh btw by me a coffee and donuts" like wtf ...

Example: UPS freight...you will have to pay freight charge + fuel surcharge + tax.....

VS. Cardinal ...you only pay freight charge.

So a rate, hourly, does not have to include everything...a product or service can be priced out / broken down by any/all means...its up to the market & consumer to go with what suits their needs.
