I'm surprised to hear how so few of you get sick....I wonder if there's a correlation between riding a motorcycle and having a stronger immune system. You're exposed to more elements, have higher rates of interaction with people and bacteria, wear gear that harbours bacteria (even if you're a germaphobe like me), etc.

I have a healthy immune system because when i was little i played in the dirt and my parents weren't scared of everything.

I wash my hands, I'm not a slob, but im about as far as one can get from being a germaphobe.

People who lysol the crap out of their homes and children are probably more likely to end up with bugs as they will have no natural resistance from low level exposure.

There's a reason why we have superbugs now that we didn't have years ago.

I really don't understand germophobes. The world is literally crawling with bacteria. Being a germophobe can make you even sicker.

People have taken it too far.

...or maybe ppl who ride are inherently healthy because you don't see anybody pulling up a cane on their motorcycle :)

I waiting to see what's gonna be the next big bug. If u look throughout human civilization, we've had a superbug to balance out the population. Its just nature's way of curbing the population. Now that we've hit 6 billion, I'm curious as to if we will continue to hit 7 billion

Germs are everywhere, even inside of u. What I really have a phobia for is germs from other people. People can carry diseases and spread to others. I don;t really have a phobia for germs in the atmosphere or surfaces unless it is from other individuals

Too late! ROH NO.

Will be curious if we hit 8 billion. :)

What happens when u put too much animals in a cage? what happens when u put too much fish in a jar?
More diseases and more aggression towards each other.

WW3 should come before we hit 8 billion, lol

I'm working on it. lol. It's a cognitive defect, so I'm slowly fixing it. But I'd also say that I'm reasonable about it. For example, I don't put my bags on floors (especially in the washroom) because that same bag goes home

AIDS! Not really a "bug" per se, but I think it could count. & It's winning right now, too

Public washroom?

If my belt buckle hits the ground I want to dump it, lol. Public washrooms are nasty man.

I don't put my bag on the ground either, thats the same bag that will be brushing up on my skin.

We did a swap on what has the most bacteria, things like toilet seat, door handles, railings for stairs were ranked top.

Metal objects tend to have less bacteria

Never had one probably never will. I'm a plumber so I figure after 30 years of this i'v built up a pretty strong immune system.

Being diabetic it has helped me as usually i get the flu but since started taking the shot haven't so its case by case

I have a pretty good immune system. but I still get the flu shot. It's paid for by my employer plus I get out of work for an hour to go see all the ladies down at City Hall where the shots are given. You germaphobes wouldn't last a minute doing my job.

You can add gas pump nozzles to that list,Ive heard that they are thick with crawling bacteria.
Makes sense as they never get washed.

I don't get them.

My mother, who does x-rays at a hospital, told me my grandfather got one after having some kind of eye surgery and apparently you're not supposed to get it after that but no one mentioned it. He ended up losing an eye because of whatever complications resulted.

Never get the flu shot. Never seem to get tha flu nor severe cold. Is seems that the ones who do get the shot that I know of generally get sick afterwards.

Best way to avoid the flu: Get to the front and lead those group bike rides. ;) Let the coughers and sneezers drool where you where not where you are.

Yeah, I got it the last two years because I have an infant daughter. Any way to reduce the chance of getting the flu and passing it on to her I'll take. I have 1000+ people a day come though my workplace so I will come into contact with the flu. No flu symptoms last year...fingers crossed again this year.
FYI - the flu shot CANNOT give you the flu! Total myth.

No thanks. You can keep all those yummy chemicals that I'm definitely not deficient in to yourself. Mercury, aluminum, formaldehyde, yummy but no thanks. There is plenty of stuff in there that should scare you! The flu shot is based on the previous strain. Last years strain will have very very little if any impact on this years virus. So much to lose, almost nothing to gain! No thanks. And if you are thinking about it, please do your own research (example). And I'm not talking about the pharma propaganda. How about keeping your immune system operating at peak efficiency?

Or not, I mean I did just read that the world population is up to 7 billion with something like 300,000 people born every day.

Getting the flu from a flu shot should be the least of your worries.

before getting the flu shot I would get tonsillitis 6-8 times a year and if i didn't get antibiotics it would dog me for a month. now it's 1 or 2 times a year. i know the flu shot doesn't guard against tonsillitis but when you're succumbing to the flu other things can move in as well, i'd end up with tonsils the size of golf balls and i'd miss some work and not get paid.

oh, that cheer leader? she's "cured". http://scienceblogs.com/insolence/2009/11/desiree_jennings_cured.php
