I usually have a pretty strong immune system, but now I'm sick again 2 weeks after I got better. I'm pretty sure I don't have the flu, but I was just thinking about it.

I was never a believer in the shots because I figured that if you could fight it off, you were good to go. And if you couldn't, you'd be immune to that strain when you got over it.

I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but I'm also uncomfortable with them putting some fluid that I can't even verify in my body (but I guess you could make that argument over pills, prescriptions, or any other medication that doctors may give you).

Oh, and here's a video about some cheerleader who got apparently Dystonia from a flu shot (although it was swine flu):

The swine flu shot was labelled as a risk. They made that known.
As for the regular flu shot... you only get sick if there is already something in your system. Then the shot might trigger it to flare up sooner. I worked for two years in a hospital... it was a topic of bitching every fall.

I'm not a big fan of boosting pharm companies bottom line this way even though I'm not exactly paying for it. If a different strain of flu comes along than the one the vaccine is aimed at you're screwed anyway.

Maybe if I was really old, but certainly not at my age. My wife and kids don't get one either and we've never had the flu that I can think of.

Cbc did a survey on doctors and flu shoots. Something like 86% of doctors don't get the shot.

Nope. I won't be getting one either.

I don't ever remember getting one. It's more due to laziness than any real objection.

No. I'll let those that need it get it. I don't think it's right that I should be clogging up those lines.

^^ Who NEEDS a flu shot?

and no, i dont get flu shots either....never get the flu, go figure....

Well there are people out there who genuinely have compromised immune systems. My dad, for one, gets sick pretty easily and it usually complicates his other medical conditions. The elderly, the very young, etc. It's probably a small percentage...which is why I find those HUGE line-ups for flu shots hilarious. Someone's getting rich off of this for sure.

On the plus side she can now crunk like a mofo....I kid I kid.

That's frikkin scary. Got one once...had the worst flu I've ever had that year. Don't think the two are related...just being superstitious.

I got one once and ended up so sick I was hospitalized for a week. Never again. Besides, by the time they've finished developing the year's vaccine, the virus itself has mutated once again. There was an article in the CBC health section a few weeks back about the flu shot. According to some research undertaken, the flu shot isn't that effective in curbing the rates of illness. Probably because the virus mutates so quickly.

I won't go into the details why but Big Pharma is in serious trouble. One of the ways they are trying to survive is by pushing the vaccine side of things funded by national healthcare systems. Also a reason why a papilloma vaccine emerged recently. From the results that I've seen the efficacy of some of these vaccines is dubious and spurred on by the "just do it, there's no harm" crowd, pharm companies are reaping a nice profit.

I agree...I have my own suspicions regarding flu shots and other such vaccinations, but I have absolutely no real information or evidence to put forward so I just try and keep that crap to myself for the most part.

Ask a patent lawyer for the evidence...they are getting rich right now from some massive drugs coming off patent (Viagra, Lipitor etc) and the generics trying to muscle in. These massive blockbuster drugs aren't being replaced with anything that brings in the cash like they did.....hence...exploring "other streams of revenue" is a big priority for the major players.

I'm surprised to hear how so few of you get sick....I wonder if there's a correlation between riding a motorcycle and having a stronger immune system. You're exposed to more elements, have higher rates of interaction with people and bacteria, wear gear that harbours bacteria (even if you're a germaphobe like me), etc.

I thought it was policy (in Ontario, at least) for doctors/nurses to stay up-to-date with all vaccinations & shots?

Lol watch the "walk it out" remix of her vid. It's synced so well
