Do we need an official gun thread?

This thread was a good laugh!!
debate, but don't use any facts. go.

:lmao:

No real point in this debate.

The only ones that take part have already made up their minds for or against private firearms ownership, and neither side is gonna give any ground. The rest of the members roll their eyes and skip ahead to a different thread that they might actually enjoy reading.

This is so true.

Guns are evil and they cause evil and only evil doers need guns. No guns no crime no death no violence = paradise on earth. baby jesus loves you !

Now we're talking!

I do think some of the rifles listed on the restricted and prohibited shouldn't be there, especially since you have rifles that are on that list only because they bare resemblance to military issue in form but not function. I also find it ironic that the mini14 is not on either list.

What's the problem with the Mini 14?

Extra points if you can name all the guns in the pics.
Those girls are just good for making sandwiches. Why are their finger on the trigger?

To shoot you? Next guy who asks me to make a sandwich gets his head blown off...that's the look they have on their faces.

Because they never passed their saftey course and don't know what ACTS and PROVE are.

the reason many firearms are prohibited or restricted come from the École Polytechnique massacre.

My dad had a mini 14 as a coyote gun. Once that incident happened, he got rid of it in fear of it being listed, so he could at least sell it and not lose the money... And now regrets selling it.

PROVE makes me laugh... Who the hell looks down the barrel of any gun?! Only time I do is when I'm cleaning it, and by then the gun couldn't possibly fire.

I must agree with u here. I don't like the idea of looking down the barrel of a gun, loaded or not. I'm sure everything is good enough when looking from the chamber side.

I just feel safer blowing my hands off than blowing my brains off

You look down the barrel after you've ensured it's unloaded and the action's open..... if you are still afraid of the gun at that point then that's a problem for you. The idea is it's safer to ensure the barrel is clear of obstruction by looking down it, then to just shoot the gun and hope the barrel's unobstructed

ACTS and PROVE is drilled into newbie heads so that they can develop a proper obsession with safety. It's a good thing, but its way over the top once you're an experienced shooter. Nobody I know actually sits there going through the motions.

You drop/empty the mag, then check the chamber and get on with your life. Ammunition doesn't form magically out of thin air.

Looking down the barrel of an empty gun is perfectly fine. It might save your *** some day too, in case of a light load or primer-only sending a bullet part way down the tube...

I know the reason why... But, I also always have control of my gun, so there is no way I will EVER have anything jammed in there. You will never, ever see me sling my gun over my shoulder, it's always in my hands.

I just don't stare down the barrel of a gun, even when I know it's "safe". Want to check it? Flashlight down the muzzle and look in the chamber.

Why not carry a wooden splint or a rod to check for obstruction?

That's just my personal take. Knowing me, I might be talking to somebody, get distracted & blow my head off

Your fear of looking down the barrel of an empty gun is comical.

Dangerous words...

I agree that PROVE can be overkill they way they push it, but they are simply trying to develop a pattern that you follow by instinct.

And here I commented on ACTS and PROVE to be comical and I started a debate.

Regardless of how you start a discourse, there's nothing wrong with getting people talking about "safety issues". Even if you don't learn anything ( and often, you do), it's still mildly entertaining, to read all the comments and opinions, just to see where people stand.
To those gentlemen that are fearful of looking down the business end of a firearm - if you've executed the P. R. O. V. correctly, when you get to the E. - you will be looking down an empty tube. If you're not, then you'd certainly want to know about it, before you feed a live round into the chamber.
