Do Hondas burn oil?

Hondas (Cars and bikes) have to the most overrated vehicle in the market. Sure they are decent vehicles but my 01 prelude se was going through 2-3 litres of oil between oil changes and i barely revved it. Not only that but their transmissions are known to fail and its not really a cheap fix either. I now drive a bmw 335, had it for two years and other than oil changes and regular maintenance it has been a bullet proof car.

I would rather drive a chevy aveo before i buy a honda. lol want to waste your money? buy a honda! lol

I have had no issues with my hondas.

everytime i fill/empty the oil it is exactly the volume it is supposed to be. 3.2 and 3.6.

hope that helps.

I had a prelude. It was a fail of all the Hondas. Always leaking and burning oil. Any other Honda is fine. The bikes I find highly over rated and have a 'because its a Honda price markup'. I'll still buy the cars over anything else. (Owned 6 Hondas. Prelude was the only lemon ).

Actually owned 2 honda cars (CRX & Civic) and 8 bikes - never an issue.

The Honda acronym for "Had one never do again" certainly doesn't apply here!

I bought my prelude with 130ish kms and sold it with 145ish turned me off of hondas and i will never buy another honda again.

My 98 Blackbird with 95,000 kms used up 1/4 liter every 4,000 kms. Pretty damn good in my books.

Owned three generations of civics 1991/2000/2011.....and not a single issue other then regular maintenance

F4i for 10000 km and I was fine, however I think you are better with consumer reports type documents or some sort of broader search than gtam

Big family, we've owned a number of Honda's..

88 Honda Civic - 330,000+ kms (sold)
96 Honda Civic - 260,000 kms (sold)
06 Honda Civic - 280,000 kms (still running)
06 Honda Odyssey - 84,000 kms (leased, returned)
06 Honda Accord v6 - 85,0000 kms (leased, returned)
10 Honda Odyssey - 70,000 kms (leased, current)
10 Honda Crosstour - 55,000 kms (leased, current)

2001 Honda CBR600F4i 30,000 kms (street bike, sold)
2002 Honda CBR600F4i 35,000 kms (track bike, sold)
2008 Honda CBR600RR 25,000 kms (current)

2008 EU2000 Generator, runs like new
2007 HS520A Snow Blower, runs like new

I might be lucky, but all of the Honda's we've owned have been fantastic machines. I've owned a Suzuki, three Ducati's, two Kawasaki's, two Yamaha's including my current 2009 R6 track bike, and a ton of American vehicles. My wife rides a Vespa (after me spending significant time getting it to run smoothly). Some have been decent, others complete duds, but none have been as reliable as Honda.

Your mileage may vary of course, but any other choice is a hard sell for me given my personal experience.

My prelude with over 260k barely burns oil. Bullet proof 2.4, about half a liter between 5k oil changes.

1995 acura integra went to 300k not one problem, would have kept going but new canadian wrote it off
2003 acura el currently at 250k, no problems other than ac and alternator
2010 crv currently at 82k no problems, noticed it burns about 1/4 to 1/2 liter for every 8-10K
2007 cbr1000rr at 30k no problems
2006 600rr at 34 no problems

But yeah the last generation preludes had some oil burning issues as did the 2008 cbr1000rr. As long as you do a bit of research you'll be fine

To add to what everyone else said, the 2008 CBR1000RRs had this issue but it wasn't all of them.

No issue with Honda's burning/using oil. MM bought someone elses problems thats all. No history on how its previous life treated it. Buy the 600 and be done with it. lol

I have had quite a few Honda's as well. Would I buy one again? Likely not one of their cars again. I feel their quality has gone down over the years along with their styling and features.

95 Civic CX - D16 Body fell apart 340,000km
96 Civic DX - D16 Burned 1L of oil to every oil change T-Boned written off 220,000km
