But look at that youtube vid I linked, they seem to be pritty decent as turn signals, I think he's got like 10 LED in those pegs and in the video it seems to work well even in daylight
 
...and while we are talking about dumb ideas, not sure drilling holes in the footpeg supports is a good idea. There was engineering involved to make them light and strong as possible.
 
I ride solo 100% of the time lol. I dont think it would matter, but just check out that video, I think its a nice alternative to after market turn signals.

It was a overcast day, and those lights are weak sauce.
 
The guy even says "ill tell u what folks they are bright" LOL

I bought some led brake lights for my footpegs and I didn't even install them becaise I notoced it won't work properly woth my bike. so if u want I can just give you them for free
 
Those 5mm LED's can only be so bright because they don't bleed heat well enough for serious light output. The problem is they are dim in the sun and blinding at night. It would be nice if you could use some proper high output LED's and have them dim at night. Not certain how to integrate some proper heatsinked LED's into something like a passenger peg support to make them like nice, though.
