Hey guys. So I was watching youtube vids on some r6, and this guy had a custom rear foot pegs with integrated LED lighting used as turn signals. Heres the youtube link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=phCa7D3eX4s if you forward to about 1:00 you see it.

I looked up the company that does it, but its US based. Does anyone here know where we can get this done locally?

Any shops or small companys that do this custom work? Im trying to find out befor i send mine off to the states lol and prlly end up paying arm + leg for shipping.

Heres the website if anyone was curious to see, I think its a great idea.

I have seen Daytona Motor Sport do these before. They do a bunch of custom lighting like projector lights, LEDs, Demon Eyes and custom signal/brake lights in the rear pegs.

Tons of these things on eBay

The are very easy to make your self, I will find the tutorial on how to do it

AHah cool thanks guys. I dont really trust myself doing this.. it will be more like " how to destroy footpegs in 3..2..1.."

I used some stick-on strips because I'm cheap, works great.

That actually doesnt look that complicated. Winter project? hmm I think so..

How do I wire them up as turn signals? Im new to my bike, I got it with integrated tail lights and its got a LED tag light, so where can I wire these into to have them function as turn signals?

Thanks!

I guess you guys don't know much about LEDs. If you just wire them directly into a 12V system, they will burn out quickly. Most of them can only handle between 2.2-3.0V.

You need to solder in a proper resistor before the LED to drop peak voltage.

Dean at Hackaweek shows nicely how to do this, and calculate the resistance.

As you can see, it's pretty easy.

However, LEDs are PFU in daylight. Lighting up a bike like a cheap disco at night is getting old.

Yep, theres a few members here that were doing this years ago.

I dont recall their forum names, but Alan is one along with Derek from the markham riders group.

Alan was also installing heated grips too.

Lol. Im not trying to light them up like disco lights, Im trying to turn my foot pegs into turn signals.

My bike came with integrated taillights, so the signals arnt very noticeable. And im trying to find a "cleaner" look for turn signals rather than buying the after markets and installing them beside my license plate.

I wouldnt just use these as turn signals on your bike. I would them in addition too your intergrator kit or OEM ones.
They arent very noticeable at the best of times ..

I was going to say "that is gay" when I saw the tittle but after seen the video it is actually pretty cool lol. Adds safety at night riding as well

Yah, that was what i was trying to do Lol.

My bike didnt come with OEM turn signals. Just the fender eliminator and integrated tailight. So I was trying to stick LED's into the pegs and have them as another set of turn signals Lol

Like this guys bike:

Lmao yah I would think its gay too to stick a bunch of underglow stuff into bikes.

You can splice into your rear signal wire, if you want them as turn signals or you could put red ones in and splice into your brake light wire and have an extra set of brake lights.

That is all dependant on the LED's and how you wire them.
If you can figure out the voltage you can put 3-4 in series and parallel as many groups as needed (Which is what they do on the strips they sell) and.
But yes knowing the voltage of the LED's is key if you are not being the pre-wired strips.

.. or splice them into your Ipod while it plays "YMCA" ...

Check the laws -these will not replace proper turn signals, and LEDs are pretty useless in daylight.
