@fastar1: if someone broke into my house I would feel that my safety was being threatened and would probably come across as an aggressor. I wouldn't ask them kindly to leave. I would also think that if someone is brazen enough to break into a house in daylight, through the front door, and within sight of several people at the swimming pool, then he is prepared for confrontation and will react accordingly. I realize the law doesn't reflect the logic in that, but law be damned. My safety and life is more important than law. I think you know what I mean...
@RetroGrouch: yes. I've read the stories lately. In particular, that one in NS where a would-be thief was mauled by the dog. The cops held the dog down and shot it. Idiots. A dog will protect itself when threatened. Any animal would. Can't blame a dog for that.
