Covid shank

Was looking at kayaks yesterday for kicks....I still regret when the MIL sold the FIL's kayak once he passed away. 15 or 17ft sea kayak for $600. Now they're over 1500$ for everything I've seen.
Guess I'm not kayaking this year!
We didn't have the space to keep it unfortunately and she needed the $ to pay for life. Too bad but would've been great to keep it.

Thanks. Ya my FIL was a good man, but couldn’t save a dollar to his name. He literally left his wife with $500 under the pillow (if that).
that’s why she lives with us. I tried paying our mortgage and her rental and I couldn’t make it work without drowning. But it works for us as she helps with the kids lots more than we help her so overall win-win.

@nobbie48 , the 5 days was just getting it one way, they went to Chicago from here empty and backhauled a GL70 back to Diego. They were slow getting over the mountains but made amazing time coming through the midwest. Guys doing this are complete proffessionals , since all they move are boats , have routes , know the permits. Its pretty stress free for the owner, you just need to pay a huge bill and move forward happy with life choices LOL.

Specialists:

We inherited a piano and paid a piano mover to get it. I was there at both ends to watch and three wiry guys knew what came off and what didn't, what was going to shift or slide. Stairs at both ends and it was smoothly set in place without a scratch.

Times changes and my S-I-L wanted it so she had a well known professional house mover come and get it. Three oafs banged and crashed it out and I still see the wood scars.

A friend is so wound up he wants to buy a huge sailboat. He is having pipe dreams about fixing up a 48 footer. Insanity! I had to fix his wind surfer. If he gets a fixer upper I'm blocking him on my cell.

I've fixed a few boats and on line consultation with a novice would be hell.

Any one know what a basic set of sail would cost for a 48'? Just to scare him.
 
OK just about anything can go wrong. If the vaccines come out and work the recreation industry will be swamped. If the vaccines don't work we'll get shut down. Lose lose.

Outside of day trips to crowded venues what are people planning on doing once out of the Covid cage.

@crankcall probably has the best idea. That is a big ass sailboat. Even if someone gave it to me for free and I fixed it up myself, the parts and materials would bankrupt me.

He is being tempted by a C and C landfall 48 in Ohio. It sounds like an insurance write-off after a lift out. The sling may have grabbed the prop shaft and pulled it into the hull. Maybe it's a Landfill 48. What else happened after is anyone's guess.

I occasionally helped a guy as he built a 35 footer and it isn't like the eight foot sea flea weekend project for $25 (When plywood was $5.00 a sheet.)
