Covid Question

It's going to be AZ at pharmacies, at least for now, because of the easier storage and transport requirements.
 
Just an fyi...pay attention to the age brackets and how they are defined in your health unit.

For example, 55 and older means you turn 55 at any time in 2021. You could be 54 and be eligible if you have a birthday between now and the end of the year.

Facebook acquaintance in the U.S. had his second shot February 22.
He's gotten a kidney transplant from his wife.
He got a headache, chills, nausea etc. from the vaccination, a few weeks after the shot, it only lasted a few days.

What shots did he receive?
 
Just found out my buddy in his 30s got his shot because he works at the hospital and is currently WFH.

Apparently there’s a waiting list for employees and if there are left over shots the calls start and you’ve got an hour or so to get there and take a shot. Better than being tossed in the garbage for sure.

Afaik, they get what they are given. My understanding is pharmacies are getting most of the AZ but until you show up and they draw up your shot, there are no guarantees.
 
Unleash the steam from some ears. ESA has a temporary amendment to allow employers to layoff employees without pay if they refuse to be vaccinated. Not sure what gov't support they are eligible for in this situation (or for how long).


"The employee is under a direction given by their employer in response to the employer’s concern that the employee might expose other individuals in the workplace to a designated infectious disease. The ESA does not require employers to pay employees during that time.
Examples include where the employer:

is concerned that employees who have not received the COVID-19 vaccine may expose others in the workplace to COVID-19 and tells them not to come to work until they have been vaccinated"

"Rights during leave
Employees who take infectious disease emergency leave are generally entitled to the same rights as employees who take pregnancy or parental leave. For example, employers cannot threaten, fire or penalize in any way an employee who takes or plans on taking an infectious disease emergency leave."

awesome...I don’t have kids so now I can take emergency infectious disease leave instead.

For a few reasons, I’ve got no choice but to get the vaccine,

I just wish they would hurry up and get to my age group
 
What if they got it wrong? What if instead of giving it to high age brackets first they gave it to high IQ brackets first? The dumber ones don't want it anyway and it wipes them out without a fight.

I’m 55, tomorrow for phizer in Markham. Cant believe they had 90 spots available yesterday. I booked Sunday for a Tuesday slot. They booked my 29 yr old kid because they didn’t get enough registrants. He got jabbed today.
 
It really is a crap shoot on the booking sites.
Want a pharmacy shot, you have to book with Shoppers, Walmart, Rexal all seperately , no central booking
Halton healthcare, pick your location,

so people are booked on 5 waiting lists, take the first shot that comes available, and dont cancel the other spots. Now we have hundreds of empty spots.
Then the media hypes fear on AZ and people stop showing up for shots.

We may be our own worst enemy here
