COVID and the housing market

Watched the video.

I don't get the whole live-in-your-parents-basement-and-play-video-games-all-the-time troglodyte lifestyle either.

But if we substituted the last bit with "ride your motorcycle all the time" then:

[x] don't own a house
[x] don't own a car
[x] don't have a job
[x] don't have any responsibilities
[x] p̶l̶a̶y̶ ̶v̶i̶d̶e̶o̶ ̶g̶a̶m̶e̶s̶ ̶a̶l̶l̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶t̶i̶m̶e̶ ride motorcycles everywhere, all the time

then yeah... I get where he's coming from...

I think most of the people here are getting hung up on the video games part.

But then again, he says he doesn't have any responsibilities to anyone, then takes 2 minutes to plug his sponsor...

okay.

You sure about that? Even when he makes older parents do all the work around the house!

I was lazy but I did the chores around the house.
Very sure! I don't believe he is totally free of all responsibility. He is just part of the new self entitled generation.
How many times did the mention his wealth? Umm, ya.

Video games = vapourware
It's imaginary
non-tangible
right up there with doing drugs for fun

Mother-in-law had a great saying for this situation: Ok you kids, now go outside and get the stink blown off you!

So back to housing...apparently there’s a big bubble waiting to burst.....or will it be like last year...10% dip and to the moon with diamond mortgages!
That's the thing, the prices have increased so quickly that even a huge (~30%) correction really only burns those that bought in the past 12 months. The most vulnerable take it in the nuts and the established swoop in to accumulate more wealth :(.

I just hope the condo market flat lines and doesn't bust.

I know the housing market skyrocketted during COVID but not condos for whatever odd reason; I think it was over extended renters though. The place I bought clearly had someone renting under the table (I keep getting her mail, yet there was no trail of this being used as a rental unit for years.....Asians being Asian I guess.)

That's why I don't really think it's a bubble. There is enough current home owners out there with plenty of equity that would rush out to buy something tomorrow if prices dropped by 30%. I think at best inventory comes up a bit and balances things out a little but I don't really see prices go backwards too much.

bingo. supply and demand. even with the record high rental availability and low rental rates, condo are selling fast and at high prices.
detached and THs, its like black friday the way they're being snatched up.

gotta plug housesigma for anyone in the market. great app/site, just sign up an email. tells you all the sales history for any non-private sale house.
you don't really need an agent with this.

More people watched live stream video games championships then the super bowl.
Prize money is in the millions.

Because I enjoy learning different perspectives, what's wrong with flaunting one's successes? I've always seen it as "Yo, I'm up here, I'm better than you, come get me." I like challenges and find stuff like that inspirational.

Echoing this. I have no interest in regular sports. I enjoy watching two geniuses go at each other in StarCraft 2.

Yes it's very sad isn't it. I think I'll stick with lottery tickets a bowl of soup and riding motorcycles in my back yard today.

or maybe the front yard

 so hard to decide when it's nice out

This amazes me. Who would think it’s more fun to watch someone play...than do the actual playing.

I don’t watch sports for that reason. The appeal just isn’t there to me.

It's huge in South Korea!

I like the atmosphere during some of the bigger events.....

Get bored? Walk a few blocks down and go to a dog cafe or a animal cafe (racoons, pigs etc)
OR
홍대 (Hongdae )....

It's often to learn I think. Like for simracing I'll watch others to pick up their lines, braking markers, etc. (like real track junkies lol)

Yea, basically expand your knowledge and then realize how difficult it is to do yourself when you go to try.
My reflexes especially for gaming isn't what it used to be.

Back to armchair expert it is.

I assume it's at least partly watching genius at work. Like watching Jordan play even if you dont know or care about basketball he is fun to watch. For that reason, I cant watch WNBA. If you care about tactics and strategies it's interesting but the last time I tried to watch, the skill level was abysmal.
