Who do you think the classes are and who are they suing? You think restaurants or people that caught covid will sue douggie personally for how this has been handled?

They politicized and completely botched the handling of the 2nd wave in ontario, likely due to ideological or political reasons, risking peoples lives.
I suspect these new measures are the result of angry phone calls after the top doctors started sounding alarm bells on tv lately.

Hence the new measures today, that should have been in place 4 weeks ago.

You may be correct, but Douggie had a point too. If he pre-emptively shuts down an industry without evidence that it is a real issue, from a lawsuit perspective, is that worse? I don't know, I see good arguments for both sides.

I think we needed to go to real zero-tolerance long ago. Put the fear of god in those choosing to flout the rules. Hell, go with get caught a second time and you are shut/quarantined until a vaccine is deployed. Make life changing impacts on the idiots to provide more freedom for those trying to play along. Government is still unwilling to do much to those that choose to be entitled asshats. Closing the places they hang out punishes the wrong people and will just lead to the problem relocating. IMO, you need to fix the people/behaviour, not the location.

Where is the limit on the number of people in a store? Been to a home depot or walmart lately? I doubt many in there know the meaning of social distancing.
Or how to wear a mask. Honestly, if you can't figure it out, do the country a favor and just stay home and get delivery.

Some guidance on what is coming. Likely that Toronto, Peel, Ottawa lose gyms and indoor dining for 28 days starting tomorrow. Casinos remain open though (isn't that a clear conflict of interest and they should be one of the first things whacked?).

It will be interesting to see what happens with york, durham, oakville restaurants as Torontonians spread out to spend their dining dollars. Gyms are even worse as many will just go to an associated facility outside of the perimeter to work out. Hopefully gyms implement policies to prevent this as otherwise they risk the whole industry getting paused.

EDIT:
List of the new rules for Toronto, Peel and Ottawa.

Here is a list of all services, businesses and gatherings impacted by the new changes starting Saturday at 12:01 a.m.

I was debating about getting a haircut but it looks like that's been decided for me.

I'm just glad that I'm done my major projects around the house....both are zoos and increased price of materials now would make this much more difficult.

that sucks Zoodles

is it possible to take a leave of absence for 6 months or so?

and the wipes are a waste of time
the surface transmission thing was way overblown
this bug is airborne
Thx for the kind response.

Yeah, I could look into leave of absence. However, I think the situation is not going to improve much over the next 12 months. The only fly in the ointment is that my benefita get nuked after a month. My wife's ms medication is $2000 a month when she needs it. Her symptoms have been getting worse the past 6 months so I wonder when her neurologist is going to lay the hammer on her and push her to go back on meds. Will see.

So, I risk her health by working or risk being off.

Just venting. This will be the first Thanksgiving in my 49 years of existence I will not be spending it with my parents. We have hosted 19 times of the past 20 years. My Mother's COPD is worsening and we made a dexision as a family to not put her at unnecessary risks. I'm sure many of you are making similar decisions and calculations.

I do love my job. I have been able to not let the needle use, drinking on the bus etc bother me tok much. This mask thing really gets under my skin though because their actions literally the health and well being of others. Sigh.

I needed to build something to deal with the hottub lid as the lifter broke and I am done with expensive crap products with no support. I was going to build something properly but seeing lumber prices I changed the plans. A temporary solution has been created from crap I could find in the garage (leftover Ikea pine shelves and a backboard). It works ok. I will upgrade it when it dies.

right thread...have you seen the tp hoarding going on again?
I don't care -- I keep the TP roll holders empty.

It's working brilliantly at my place, it encourages regular hand washing.

Maybe not. I live in an area where merchants and restaurant operators are vigilant and careful with respect to seating, mingling and staff. I notice a huge difference between Toronto and Markham and I'm going to assume they will remain vigilant in order to protect the little they still have.

I don't mean to condemn T/O/P eatery and entertainment operators, but if they are being considered part of the problem. With anything health related, prevention is far easier and less painful than treatment.

Not really. If you can leave your mask on during the cut, it seems that it is still allowed.
got my hair cut last week, wore my mask the entire time.

employee wore one as well and gloves.

Related to what @Zoodles95 was mentioning, this almost seems like parody, or comedy, but apparently not:

CDC wanted to make masks mandatory on public transport, but the white house blocked the motion, elect a clown, expect a circus I guess

Left hand and a bucket works for half of the world.
Systemic Handedism needs to be erased. From now on the 90% need to do everything left-handed to make the minority feel better about themselves.

That also drives the economy as people buy left handed scissors to be able to cut anything.

Or they can't find/afford them and they're forced to adopt the ways of the majority.

It is like a dark comedy. Comments on Facebook and Twitter are overwhelmingly blaming the bus drivers for not wearing the masks enough!

Response was mangement has not been mask enforcement on the buses. Instead the supervisors keep kicking drivers out of the lunchroom when they are done eating. How is that going to work when it is -30 outside?

Whacked!

Have the supervisors moved their desks outside?

Our bank usually has a lineup outside. OK for now but not in a month or two. If social distancing becomes an issue in grocery stores the outside line ups will be bad as well. 24 hour shopping may be needed to thin the lines.

Why is the federal government in the U.S. responsible for everything?
Municipal transportation? check. Education? check.
