A big chunk of our dollar's value is tied to demand for raw materials. The volatility in those markets is largely because the simpletons out west have never figured out how to add value to the stuff they dig, cut and pump.Ok, Now if our dollar does not suddenly increase in value relative to the US something is very wrong with the system.
A tech job out west is a pipefitter or chainsaw mechanic -- until they learn how to add value to raw materials they will suffer boom and bust cycles, and some of that will tag the dollar.
