I was reading last night about how the virus kills and it’s not pretty. Essentially a large amount of inflammatory chemicals are released in the lungs that attack lung tissue. A massive inflammatory response. An x-ray of an infected patients lungs just shows up white. You’d think that using anti-inflammatories would help but there are complicating factors in that some anti-inflammatories help the body express a receptor that the virus actually uses to attack cells so caution has been advised. That makes things very difficult. Also the inflammatory response is so big that powerful drugs are needed. Some gout medications are being tried. There’s a clinical trial in Montreal based on Colchidine, a gout medication and powerful anti-inflammatory.
There are tons of clinical trials going on around the world right now using various anti-inflammatories to slow down the lung issue, anti-retrovirals for all sorts of different viruses, anti-arthritic compounds, anthelmintics, etc etc. Some of these have a rationale behind them, some are based on anecdotal evidence. They have all been brought online way faster than clinical trials normally are. Many are “Hail Mary“ trials.
Well if you have hundreds of terminal patients to conduct trials on, you can probably get a lot through the ethics board that would normally be outright rejected. The shotgun approach is the fastest way to find something that may help. I wish them luck.
It is about time. Frig. This should have been done weeks ago. No excuse for the gov't to delay so long.
They don't say how they will enforce it, but presumably, this gives police the right to ***** slap all of the wankers wandering around walmart on their way home from florida.
I think enforcement is the biggest issue. A lot of talk from the politicians yet no real fines or physical enforcement being done. Girl on my Instagram flew home from Mexico earlier this week. an hour after she lands shes posting "Stocking up!" videos of her and her entire family at Walmart.
Also noticed that the Starbucks near me was putting their chairs and tables back in the cafe and had it open for customers again.
Why can't they quarantine them when they arrive, just shuttle them to a temp location for 14 days, like they did when rescuing the travellers from the cruise ships.
A friend of mine returned last week from Florida, was only asked if they had symptoms, said no, move along.

Too many of them. Much cheaper and easier to tell them to self-quarantine. Also safer as there may only be a small percentage affected that could infect the rest. Now if they have shown they aren't capable of self-quarantine, f em. Throw them in borden or trenton and leave them there until WHO declares the pandemic over.

I still think those repatriation planes ought to be landing at abandoned air bases in the Arctic. No roads out - enjoy the Northern Lights for a month.
As hospitals prepare for a surge of COVID-19 patients, one Toronto non-profit is offering subsidized accommodation to health-care workers so they can avoid exposing their families to the illness. StayWell Charity, which ordinarily helps house patients who can’t afford to relocate to major cities...

NY Governor was yakking on tv a bit ago. He said there's tens of thousands of them. Locked up. Somewhere. (my eyes hurt from rolling them so much lately)
