I think the church I know of has several thousand members. The owners drive luxury cars, have villas down south and mansions here. They have even had an famous evangelist come to the church.

There is no desperation, just easily manipulated, mostly below average IQ people who cant think for themselves

As fast testing is not available, if one person in that department gets it, technically all staff in that department need to go for 14 days. The hospital cannot function missing some departments. For other things, like courier driver in your example, I have no idea how to solve that. They photocopy your drivers license, hand you the keys to a UPS truck and tell you not to crash it or steal anything? Their insurance carrier would not like that. Is Canada Post essential, we all know that 90% of what they deliver goes straight in the garbage anyway. Maybe actual addressed mail gets delivered but they cut all of the advertising crap? Nobody can buy anything anyway. Is garbage essential? In my mind, not for a two week window, but it is quite likely essential in a two month window.

Paragraph 1) If masks and gloves keep the bugs out can they be trusted to keep them in? Not comfy with that.

Paragraph 2) What if the parcel is a DIY ventilator kit? Or a shop air compressor?

Canada Post: Everything goes into a bin for a couple of days before it is processed. The same each stage of handling. The cheque is in the mail.

So they gave 36 hours notice to allow businesses to prepare, but won't list what is considered essential until tomorrow sometime. That should be ok if you are in a known essential (healthcare, grocery, power generation etc), but what about possibly essential (garbage, some retail like canadian tire, etc). If they only have a few hours to shut it down, it is not easy for the employer nor the people that may want to get something before it's locked.

I applaud Ford for making this step to no end, but... Given that this was on the horizon for a while, I would have thought they would have a ready list of businesses, none of this wait and see

The inability to think may not be accurate. We all want to belong to a club that suits our personality and for some it's a church. Some people are so desperate to join they lose common sense. It gets really interesting when you read up on the mind bending techniques.

Don't forget the lobbyists :/ Who wants to bet weed stores and the beer store are essential?

An interesting question is what happens to the marijuana growers. They haven't been making the margins they expected, will they try to convince douggie to cut them a cheque in exchange for turning off the lights and letting their stock die?

Already happened, hospitals put out a plea for supplies from the general public.

DIY ventilator kit :unsure:
DIY means Do It Yourself, it's not something you order and have delivered
except for medical O2 and that will still be delivered the same way home care supplies are if you need them.
 
QC just matched ontarios plan. The rest will probably fall like dominos now and JT will announce tomorrow that no federal emergency is required because the provinces are behaving.

EDIT:
Actually QC plan is more comprehensive than Ontario.
Quebec is shutting down all in-person business activity in the province, except those offering food and other essential services.

Premier François Legault said Monday that the province will be "on hold" for at least three weeks, until April 13.

Construction sites and factories will also be affected by the closure order. Legault said grocery stores, pharmacies and other essential-service providers will continue operating. He also said people will be able to work from home.

The province's schools will be closed for at least another six weeks,

For all the idiots trying to stock up on chloroquine (including a large number of doctors), good luck with that. Pharmacies are not filling the script unless it was from an infectious disease specialist (who surprise, surprise, aren't writing snake oil scripts as people actually need chloroquine for issues it does work for).

Or as with most things that affect the entire country, the provence' are now implementing the recommendations of our federal government ;)

TomAto, Tomato. I think were are slowly getting where we need to be. How the provinces and JT do the political dance to present it doesn't matter much to me.

I have a idiot conspiracy friend posting this on Facebook, alluding this is the cure. I think his only reasoning is because Trump mentioned it....

Yikes, if that is the bar for truth, maybe we should let this ravage humanity. We are doomed anyway, might as well get started with the cull.
 
I have two aerogardens in the house. Dusted them off and planted one last night. Waiting for seeds for the other.
 
I plan to go shopping Russian style tomorrow. Make a list of needs and buy whatever is close, if they have it. Bologna becomes bacon, etc.
