I believe the Pfizer stuff is being manufactured outside Detroit now. They are targeting around 1.3 billion doses this year.
I think a big problem is also logistics. I think it has to be stored at something like -100 degrees F once its manufactured and then packed and shipped in dry ice.
Stands to reason that for Ontario this would be a good source as its only 10 minutes across the bridge
Douggie begged Biden for 1M doses from detroit to fill the current supply vacuum. All of Canada's Pfizer supply comes from Europe manufacturing. Afaik, he was unsuccessful (which was expected, Douggie and Biden are both a few connections away from being able to secure vaccine and/or provide help in the future).
Haha, Douggie just had a press conference. After a question on variants, CE responded that we will be able to test 1500 per week for variants starting next week. So they are testing 70,000 per day for covid and 200 a day for variants? Pissing in the wind there.
There is now reports California and a bunch of states are getting out of lockdowns.... even though the infection and death rates are higher then when the lockdowns started... what happened to the democrats being the party following the science...

Yeah I saw a post on FB as well, the comments section was brutal. Freedom, gov lacky, sheep, lay down and die if you stay home...it was both tough and amuzing to read for all the wrong reasons.
If you want to be infuriated at both rich entitled ********** and the government response to them read the link.
TL: DR multi-millionaire chartered a plane to a remote first nation reservation and claimed he and his wife worked at the motel so they could get vaccinated. Government fined him $500.

You're too funny. They're too busy investigating the whackjob to bother with her pie-in-the-sky push for impeachment.
Marjorie Taylor Greene. Qanon supporter and supporter of several conspiracy theories (Pizzagate, False flag school shootings, Clinton Kill List, 911, and on, and on). Suspended from Twitter last week (thppbt isn't gonna like that). Want's to carry a gun in congress. Hell, her own party is turning on her.

It’s so crazy. Vaccine is moving and there is a window to get a handle on this thing. I would be doubling down for the next 2 to 3 months instead of letting up. When 600 people show up at a house party as happeed last weekend and no one even makes and effort to break it up something is very wrong

Does the no-fly list apply to chartered jets or is that just for commercial airlines?
Besides, he probably knows JT. Pay his Mom Maggie a quarter mil. to give a speech at a company think tank & his name never makes the no-fly list If the opposition raises a stink, just prorogue parliament. Works every time
While I care about our friends to the south, I most worry about us.
I'm asking myself how a military logistics general (the fellow in charge) could get this so messed up. I would imaging Pfizer gave them a heads up a while back, this could not have been a surprise. I get the fact that shipment are delayed -- but with that as a known quantity, why did he blow the all important second jabs when we know millions who already have a jab will get seriously timed out - possibly wasting a few million doses.
I wonder what would happen if Captain Logistics had to move bullets and rations to a fighting force?

Now I don't know if it is better or worse, but the population killed was vastly different. Instead of wiping out a large percentage of healthy 16 to 25 year old men (with small numbers of other age/sex represented) we are mainly wiping out the elderly and infirm. A cull is awful and nobody wants to do it and they are lasting mental repurcussions but there may be an opportunity to make positive changes with the opportunity presented. For instance, LTC was broken with years long waiting lists and crap care based on low funding per resident. If we reduce the number of residents in LTC, we can improve care. Sadly high mortality rate in LTC makes lots of open spaces to catch up on waiting lists of people who are at significant risk to themselves living in the communtiy.
The US death toll for the Civil War was estimated to be at least 620,000. Both sides were American.
The US populations were considerably lower back then as well so the deaths per thousand were higher.
Long term care is a hot potato. Living in a modest hotel could cost $4,000 and up per month. Other than three hots and a cot there is nothing. There are no nurses or entertainment facilities. There are no aides to push wheelchairs or help with tasks. How many people have prepared themselves financially for anything more than a room and the basics?
Even those that have assets want to leave them to their heirs. But I keep hearing a voice saying: "Who is going to take care of me?"
There are those that are less well off because low incomes = low CPP. Similarly some have had life misfortunes and there are the ones that made bad decisions. Socialism says we can't let them rot under a bridge. (I agree)
For profit homes have a place for those that can afford better care but for-profit businesses need more than inflationary profit increases. That means rates have to go up more than inflation or services have to be cut. Non profit homes still face wage increases above the rate of inflation. Who wants a job where wages stagnate? Also it's hard to motivate people when they have no future. The job also generally sucks
We need some fresh ideas because what we let evolve is based on everyone thinking someone else would take care of the problem.
Jagmeet Singh threw out the thought of banning for-profit LTC homes. A valid knee jerk reaction considering the record of many of them.
Personally I don't want the government telling me what I will be getting for dinner.
BTW my daughter worked as an ambulance dispatcher. She had the horror stories and that was before Covid.

He's canadian military. We will be an also ran in any altercation that matters. If he screws up logistics, that's ok, we were just showing up for political reasons anyway. Being held accountable for your actions rarely applies to upper echelons of civil servants.
