They should immediately open all camp grounds and assign them to those directly affected.
Guess what people, want to start camping season early this year our move to a shelter?

Now that'll up the incentive to get tested.
Why not house those who are infected in holiday inns, and fancy hotels? Most are vacant anyway.

one of my friends shared this on Facebook...not sure how much of it is true, but if any of it is, then there is some good news coming out:

?How about some good news??

??China has closed down its last coronavirus hospital. Not enough new cases to support them.
??Doctors in India have been successful in treating Coronavirus. Combination of drugs used: Lopinavir, Retonovir, Oseltamivir along with Chlorphenamine. They are going to suggest same medicine, globally.
??Researchers of the Erasmus Medical Center claim to have found an antibody against coronavirus.
??A 103-year-old Chinese grandmother has made a full recovery from COVID-19 after being treated for 6 days in Wuhan, China.
??Apple reopens all 42 china stores,
??Cleveland Clinic developed a COVID-19 test that gives results in hours, not days.
??Good news from South Korea, where the number of new cases is declining.
??Italy is hit hard, experts say, only because they have the oldest population in Europe.
??Scientists in Israel likely to announce the development of a coronavirus vaccine.
??3 Maryland coronavirus patients fully recovered; able to return to everyday life.
??A network of Canadian scientists are making excellent progress in Covid-19 research.
??A San Diego biotech company is developing a Covid-19 vaccine in collaboration with Duke University and National University of Singapore.
??Tulsa County's first positive COVID-19 case has recovered. This individual has had two negative tests, which is the indicator of recovery.
??All 7 patients who were getting treated for at Safdarjung hospital in New Delhi have recovered.
??Plasma from newly recovered patients from Covid -19 can treat others infected by Covid-19.
... While some of us are scared & freaking out (????????) .. REMINDER .. it's not ALL bad news.

Waterloo smart, Queens dumb? To be fair, QU was three days ago, things have escalated quickly in terms of government message since then.

On Saturday, the University District near Queen’s University was crowded with students as they celebrated St. Patrick’s Day.

“I’m from Scotland. I’ve travelled 3,000 miles, and obviously, the fact that the virus is happening is not going to stop me from getting steaming [drunk],” said Cam, who wouldn’t provide his last name.

Not all students were mingling in the large crowd. Sam Levy told Global News that he is taking many of the advised precautions and chose to come down from his dorm to watch the party from a distance with his friends. GG-wtf? You are worried about social distancing so you left home to go with your friends "near" a party? I have no words.

You didn’t think the Canadians weren’t going to pull out all the stops once the NHL announced they were shutting down, do you?

City of Toronto sent all non-essential staff home with pay.

I am conflicted on "with pay". All private sector employers I have heard from are either laying off their staff, telling them to use vacation/sick days to care for their children, or continue to work from home and get paid (although if your kids are home most employers are not allowing this avenue). It is good to keep some money flowing in the economy, but once again having the public sector see grossly different (and much more expensive) treatment to the private sector just hastens the road to ruin. The city could follow the private sector approach and *&^*&^can most of the staff and use the money saved to distribute to all Toronto residents (avoid the political waste of cheques, maybe property tax on principal residence minus 1000 for owners and give renters cheques? April tax installment is coming up quickly).

Good news if even a fraction of this is true, however some scepticism is in order. Fully recovered Coronavirus patients is actually normal. It’s who they infected before that had compromised immune systems or underlying health issues that’s important. As for vaccine claims, unfortunately there’s going to be significant pay off in terms of notoriety or even share prices for anyone/company claiming this so I’ll wait and see and hope for the best.

because they will plug up the plumbing there too.

Yeah, if I had a no-name biotech company and no morals, I would fire out a press release and ride the bump. Like in the old days of stock prices doubling because you put "blockchain" in your company name even if you had nothing to do with cryptocurrencies. All you need is a little base research and the regulators would have trouble nailing you. You said you had a promising development, not that you had a vaccine ready to go.

Speaking of that, is Skreli still in jail?

just a stab in the dark
but gonna guess it was the Engineering students partying
that school at Queens has a penchant for being on the wrong side of social issues

either that or it was because someone was on the beach downing mojitos
instead of leading the student body :)

If I had a biotech company I would be making test kits and that would be a huge! undertaking.

Coronavirus Levity

local WallyWorld still no TP
but they have this product in the TP aisle

assuming it's short term storage
if some clients misunderstand it as an alternative
that'll be a messy and sticky outcome

Is that like a cherry root beer thing?

Bill blair just talked about border. More detailed questions being asked. You need to sign a statement acknowledging that 14 day self isolation is required. Refugees (irregular crossings) now get 14 day quarantine after the normal RCMP paperwork is completed. He didn't say where refugees were being quarantined.

LCBO cuts hours on thursday (11:00-18:00) in response to crisis. I don't get it? Why are places reducing their hours due to Covid? That increases the density during open hours.

Because once people are done hoarding things....these stores are going to be ghost towns.

I've been seeing it happening already.

And the stores which ARE still currently busy are looking at the weeks ahead and already looking to conserve money. If that means laying off employees and getting prepared for the crash that's coming, well, IMHO....that's financially not a terrible plan.

Don't you have enough booze in the house now to kill the entire family? I thought most people do,
if you run out just holler, I don't care for it that much, I'll leave it at the front gate and you can just pick it up there :|
... bring disinfectant to wipe it down before you handle the bottles.

I check that box.

I like collecting it. I don't actually drink it as much as I like collecting it. I still have some **** I bought 20 years ago collecting dust in the back of the cabinet.
