He basically got the answer..eventually that:
-Someone in the cabinet knew about the virus in january thanks to military intelligence and
-They still let people from the infected regions just walk right in

He's at home with his wife at that cottage now. The media spun that totally wrong....also Scheer got on a plane with his entire family and crowded out an aircraft with reporters etc. Not as reported.
How did they "spin" it wrong?
He said something, and then did the opposite.

Scheer isn't the Prime Minister, and won't even be the opposition leader.

Scheer got on a 9 seater with his 7 family members to return to Ottawa from Regina.
Should May and Qualtrough have had their own separate jets?

No. Scheer had no reason to be flying his family back and forth across the country. Scheer ever leaving ottawa in the first place was dumb. Probably further exacerbated by his family going west with him (not sure if that happened but it seems like they were ottawa based recently). Then made worse again by his "need" to have them fly back to ottawa for the meeting he had to go to. Morons. All of them.

I have said this before on this site.... reality check, there are the four categories:
  1. You get it and recover (antibodies).
  2. You get it and die (can't spread it if you are dead).
  3. You get the vaccine (immunity).
  4. You don't get it or the vaccine and it burns out and is gone from the local and global population.
It is not politically correct so you never hear this from the politicians (of any stripe). Roughly 2/3 of the population needs to be in cat 1, 2, and 3 for category 4 to actually happen. THEY NEEDED TO LET IT GET HERE. What we are doing is trying to minimize number 2, flattening the curve, reducing infection rates blah blah blah. It is how an epidemic/pandemic works. Locking down too early is just as bad as too late.

If we we totally locked down early....we just end up in the same situation a year from now, as we kicked the can down the road, with the new patient 0 coming then. Sooner or later it gets here and runs its course.

The political and scientific skill, minimizing cat 2. The political only skill, deflecting to not admit the above. No doubt the numbers are totally under-reported or under-counted, but at some point 1, 2, and 3 account for roughly 2/3 of everyone. Even then it may keep going on a slow burn but will become mild for people in 1 and 3.

If they really wanted to get it in check they should have asked people to volunteer to get in Cat 1 early (again not PolCor)....risk is you end up volunteering for Cat 2....

Well, if you could manage a one year punt, that would be a roaring success. That puts you within striking distance of a potential vaccine. Realistically, in a democratic society, I doubt you could have a punt last long. Way way too many people moving everywhere both inside and across borders

In theory, but enough people either refuse it or more likely just won't care anymore and you don't hit the required 2/3 (give or take). Or the punt was short and you end up just delaying a couple of months, back to 1 and 2....

It can die out with #4 quite quickly too if self isolation is reasonably strict. SARS did (even without strict self isolation).

Just throwing this in the mix. When JT goes out to the cottage, the media team are there taking the photo , there is a 12 man team of RCMP security in rotation, 4 on, 3 shifts. Cooks, cleaners.... the foot print is way beyond the happy family doing crafts next to the lake. His arrogance knows no bounds.

cant say I wouldn't do it to, but its bad form.

I thought this was crackpot conspiracy stuff but apparently not:

"Two years before the novel coronavirus pandemic upended the world, U.S. Embassy officials visited a Chinese research facility in the city of Wuhan several times and sent two official warnings back to Washington about inadequate safety at the lab, which was conducting risky studies on coronaviruses from bats. The cables have fueled discussions inside the U.S. government about whether this or another Wuhan lab was the source of the virus — even though conclusive proof has yet to emerge."

It's been a hilarious day of watching my uber political friends ranting on Facebook about "Trudeau is an idiot to travel, stupid Liberals!" only to watch their head explode from cognitive dissonance when it came out their holy one Conservative leader...did the same thing. :ROFLMAO:

THEY NEEDED TO LET IT GET HERE.

It is "out there", and much like the common cold and the flu, it will be for some time to come. What many, including you apparently, seem to be missing is that this whole exercise in quarantine isn't about "getting rid of the virus" or hoping it just magically goes away, and entirely about just making sure that it comes slowly enough that the healthcare system can manage the waves in ripples instead of one big tsunami. One only needs to look at NYC to see what happens when that's the result.

Too simplistic of a view. There's some big differences between SARS and Covid19, mainly in that SARS victims only became highly contagious when they were already highly incapacitated/sick, or already in the hospital. In short...as long as you stayed away from people when you were sick you couldn't spread it. Covid19 on the other hand has people who feel perfectly fine walking around spreading it for days or weeks before they feel sick, or perhaps they NEVER feel sick as many carriers are asymptomatic.

Sars didn't "die out", it was highly contained.

Some interesting reading. I think we may see some groundshakingly epic shifts on how Covid patients who end up in the hospital are treated in the coming days and weeks.

Read PAST THE HEADLINE.... Click on the story. Read it all.

Yeah, once on a vent, the stats are bad. CE was pushing back today saying that there wasn't a standard kill order in place for nursing homes. Apparently some homes are not sending badly affected covid patients to hospital as the risk of transmission vastly exceeds the chance of successful medical intervention. Not sure where the truth lies, nor where the line should be.

DNVM...do not ventilate me...........if those stats are real, that's a terrible statistic. Lots to learn about this disease.. interesting comment about ACE2 receptor expression part way down. That increases as you get older according to one of the letter writers, and that receptor is how the virus gets into lung cells. That could explain why the elderly are affected more than the young.
