The wedding industry?? I'm issuing refunds for rentals of my clubhouse. We will reschedule , but my take on it right now is have your money back because we dont know when you'll be gathering more than 5 in a group.
Some folks I've talked to are really having a tough time getting vendors and caterers to cough up. I'm at odds right now with a circus tent guy that needs to keep my $1000 deposit. He says he held the date, I mentioneds the provincial gov't and the town of Oakville cancelled that date. We'll see, I dont think he grasps the club house I look after is a yacht club, 10 lawyers and they work for free.

I think the people holding deposits havent thought it through. Sure it helps them remain solvent right now but unless they have a monopoly, people have long memories and it may hurt for a very long time after.

Exactly word of mouth is gold, if you ruin your reputation by this, people are not go to refer you, and that is the best client you want to have.
Honestly though if this takes the jerks out the buisness it would be a good thing.

If pigs could fly and everyone was open and honest a lot of these things could be negotiated. A form of financial triage where the company that would benefit the most gets the support.

We don't have to be Shylocks and go after our pound of flesh but also people that are in trouble have to accept and learn from their mistakes. I know one individual that got into multilevel marketing, thinking his mother's friends would flock to his wonderful enterprise and sell soap for him. After it stale dated it went to the dump. Lesson learned. Sorry, pay your bills.

On the other hand a good general contractor I did work for ran into problems and offered his creditors 90% to clean the slate or he would have to fold. One creditor demanded 100% and that was the end. No one got 90% from the bailiffs.

Some people go into a business because they have a love of or talent in a particular field. If they do their best they deserve support. Others look a market and ask "What will make me the most money?" regardless of whether they have any talent in the field. The latter doesn't get my support.

We insure all our receivables. Is it expensive? yup. Know what hurts more? waving bye to xxx hundred grand. I'd never take a 90% to clear a slate, if you can find 90, you can work out 100, your looking for an out. 10% deductible and i get 90% , and if the other guy folds? he wasn't trying.

Business on the edge are like that drowning man going down for the third time, the restructure almost never works, they clear debt and are in the same spot 2 yrs later. Its too easy in Canada to blow up and buy back your own assests for 20c on the dollar, designer backruptcy , close on friday open monday as xxx 2021 ltd. And you keep the yacht if you have a good accountant.

Some local wackiness. Kelly, from Kelly's Bake Shop in Burlington.

Boggles my mind why anyone with a public persona would be dumb enough to say things that are so obviously unpopular, terrible PR move.

same brain addled defense smokers have used forever:

"I could be be hit by a bus tomorrow and die, why give up my smokes!!"

what's with the Bill Gates hashtag?
does this nutjob think a guy giving away his fortune to battle malaria is behind Covid-19 ?

It's a thing with certain people along with 5G. Something about the deep state and Bill Gates manufacturing the virus for some evil end.

I can't keep up. The same people that are anti-vaccine, believe that hydroxychloroquine is the cure for corona virus

Some people won't believe their neighbourhood is on fire until the couch that they're sitting on is ablaze.

Or they're unable to get past the current sting of losing revenue, unemployment, lack of freedom of movement, because they can't accept that other people will die because of their actions, even if that story is being played out in so many different places on this planet.

I get it, you need to pay for groceries, you need to pay rent. It's a fracking inconvenience. But holy crap... people are dying *despite* whether you believe the news or not about social distancing working.

Or maybe they're so politically polarized that they just don't believe *ANYTHING* they read on the news these days.

Because Fake News. Because Deep State. Because Govt want to take away their guns.

I read about a guy that believed all that stuff - that COVID-19 was a hoax, it was over-sensationalized. He died of the disease and the family was in anguish because they too discounted the news as being a liberal plot to take away their rights or deny Trump a second term.

It was only too late that they discovered that this virus has no political affiliation.

listening to a podcast this morning on my daily walk - don't lecture me

a dude from Kansas state - can't remember what city
took a leave of absence from his job- he's an RN
to help out in NYC, was placed in ICU unit at a hospital

they took a look at him, younger dude, big, good condition
assignment: lifting deceased from beds and transfer to temp morgue

been there for a few weeks and that's all he does, everyday, all day
dude was feeling down and called home, talked to his Dad

Dad retired 10 years ago and went about watching TV full time
never went anywhere after 45 years of getting up at 6AM

what's Dad doing now? out in the community everyday
driving, walking, seeing neighbors

because the government ain't gonna tell him what to do!
they are fuckked down there

Where did you get that ??? My wife and I just checked through her twitter account and can’t find the posts. Also, it doesn’t fit with the tone of her tweets...and her sister is a Nurse...doesn’t add up .

I saw it on Reddit.

You got me curious, and I'm bored.

Bake Shop says she was hacked,

Then there's stuff like this that she retweeted on her Twitter going back to March 31,

I call BS on the hacked thing. If true, that would be brutal way to shut down a business.

Interesting. Hack seems like a crappy cover story once blowback started. Both @kellysbake and @kellychildsxo have political crap, chinese conspiracy and 5G crap over quite a long period of time and interspersed with legitimate bakery related tweets. There is a small possibility that they had the same password, somebody got access to both of them and was posting for her and she didn't realize but it seems unlikely. I don't know what it will take for people to take passwords seriously and use long unique passwords for everything.
