Copy of the M Test (M2X) checklist!

Passed my M2 today in Burlington, route is still the same as posted by Ultra_09 with some construction happening on Industry so slow down and be prepared to stop if flag people are present. Mike was my assessor, good guy. Ear piece communications was bad. Emergency pull over is on Stanley, on a bit of a slope so be aware. My biggest issues were proper blocking lanes in town and supposedly not merging quick enough on the hi-way.

Thanks for the Burlington update. My test is in June

I passed in Aurora this morning, YESSSSSS!!!!

I was the first appointment, guy was super cool, and had no issues. Couple points for being in the wrong lane (took too long to go to the right lane after making a left), for not left-right-left checking before a left turn, and not looking at a hazard during the residential area... not sure what that was, but i couldn't care less right now...woooot!

I just saved a ton of money by not taking the M2 Exit class! G/L to all youse guys.

I also went to Aurora today and passed. Woohoo. Reading these posts the night before helped me so I thought Id share as well. My instructor was named Jim, seemed like a decent guy. He gave me a few pointers like- exagerate head movements, crank it if you have to to do a safe lane change but then come back to proper speed...stuff like that. Anyway my route was exactly as posted. Hope this helps!
Passed my M2X In Aurora today despite a few problems...
Firstly, the earpiece got stuck on my jacket, so to do a full shoulder check, it started pulling out my ear piece, so i coudn't really empasize those, lost a few marks there.. When I got on the highway and turned to check my blind spot, my visor slammed open and broke off on one side, so for half of the test, i had the visor slapping me in the face. THe guy (Jim) was really nice, he told me that speed limits didnt really apply as firmy to motorcycles and to travel at a safe speed, not necessarily the speed limit. That said, I got on the 404 at about 115km/h and then settled down to 105 once i was established. I got dinged for travelling too slowly on the highway! LOL. Expecially since some people here have indicated they were failed for doing that kind of "Speeding". Had a lol moment, When i pulled over for the "Emergency Stop" two OPP Suburbans were about 5 cars back. They stopped and put their lights on, and the one approached me to ask if everything was ok. I gave thumbs up and pointed to the Test car and they moved on.

Anyways, I had a different route than everyone else has posted for Aurora:
Start at Henderson, Right onto Yonge, Left onto Bloomington, out to the 404, North on the 404 to Wellington, Left onto wellington, Left onto Bayview, right onto Vandorf Sideroad. Left onto Industrial Parkway. Emergency Stop. Right onto Yonge, Left onto Henderson.

Passed my M2X this afternoon in Oshawa. Easy as pie. 4 points deducted for improper tire tracks at a couple of points (i was probably not far enough off of the center of my riding lane a couple of times) and was late signaling entering the highway ramps both times.

Had 2 female examiners follow me and they were very nice.
- received a heads up before the test even began from them that i was expected to enter the highway, merge at some point when it`s safe into the center lane, merge back into the right lane, then get off at the first exit (Stevenson i believe it was)...they gave me another reminder to do this before we entered the 401
- as mentioned previously pertaining to the Oshawa location in specific, upon making a right turn exiting the Driving Test Centre lot, there is a bus lane that ends verrrry quickly and will require the rider to lane change left quickly before the bus lane ends. this should be no problem for any seasoned rider though
- emergency pullover expectations was told to me by the examiners (also before we hit the road)... she wanted me to do what i was expected to do to pull over safely, kickstand down, both feet on pegs and hands up in the air to show that the bike is stable and stopped
- they also told me to flat out exaggerate my head movements (ie - bobblehead)

Otherwise, no tricks, about 30mins in length... everything else was just riding around town making left turns, right turns, the occasional lane change and then change back. and i`m in the GM club!!!

Going for my m2 exit may 30 in Burlington thanks for everyone posting a little help just one thing?

Making a right turn at a light or stop sign what tire track so I be in and if making a left what track is best thanks

What is the blocking position?

Hi Guys,

I'm doing my test in Burlington today at 11. We'll see how it goes as I haven't been on the bike in about 2 years....This past weekend I did ride 1200kms and I feel somewhat confident. I love riding but up until now all I had was a virago 250 which is really small and sluggish. Oh well, at least I can't really break the speed limit on the QEW :):).

Hi All,
Thanks for this great thread...
I just passed my M2X test in Burlington. 12 errors so no problem at all.

A few thoughts to keep in mind.
1) I got 3 errors for Lane Selection, when you are on a road that is 2 lanes each way the instructors want you to move to the right hand lane. As he said to me after move away from on coming traffic. As I was coming back at the end of the test I was in the left lane, he asked me to do a lane change to the right, then back to the left. He then expected me to make one more change to the right on my own. So remember lane selection as well as blocking position.

2) Hi-Way was no problem. Just get up to speed and merge, a lane change to the middle lane (stay in right track), then a change back. Remember mirror and blind spot checks. I asked my instructor about speed on the hi-way (Posted limit vs. keeping up with traffic) he said get up to merging speed as required, but once merged reduce to the speed limit (remember they will be blocking for you in their trail car). Do the changes then get off at the next exit. He gave me all instructions before we got on the hi-way - I think they worry about riders not being able to hear well at hi-way speeds.

3) As the instructor said he cannot tell if I look with my eyes so you need to turn your head (A LOT). Also remember that if you have a graffic helmet then they can probably see you turn your head, if not you need to put a mark (large spot or cross) on the middle of the back of you helmet so that he can see you turn your head!

4) "Emergency Stop" procedure. Well this is not really an emergency stop, just a controlled stop and securing your ride. When the instructor asks you to stop, first (and always) mirror check and Blinds spot check (BOTH SIDES), then signal and check everything again.
Pull over to the side of the road, and come to a complete stop, shift to neutral, put on the 4 ways if you have them (my bike does not so I just left the right turn signal on), and dismount the bike. I left it running. You need to dismount the bike before the procedure is completed (unless the instructor says that is good before you finish).

5) I also got dinged for not looking at a traffic hazard in the residential zone. Not even sure what that was for but probably not being stupidly obvious about observing (turning my head) the "Hazard".

Good luck to all

Did you pass hope all went well what's the driving route ?

Yeah I passed with 6 error points. It's a piece o cake. There is really no reason to worry about it. I was really anxious but there was really no reason to be. We went east on the service road, then into the residential area to do a en emergency stop, during which I didn't check my blind spot upon stopping (I should have but there were cars parked on the street so there was no way of anything coming but I still should have look), then up on the highway which went well. I accelerated to 105km/h on the ramp then entered ok. He randomly asked for lane changes on the service road as well as on the hwy. I was a bit worried on the QEW cause traffic was moving fast and I hit 115km/h to keep up but didn't seem too worried about that. Then got off at the first exit, back on the hwy again, same thing, one lane change than back. Then lane changes on the service road. Just drive as if you normally would. Keep the head spinning and put left foot down only when stopping and keep the brake light on. I also got dinged for wrong tire track when turning left at light after highway exit. If you don't do anything stupid you should be ok. I was a bit concerned about not shifting in the intersections, but I told him before we started that's not going to happen as my 250 will do about 9km/h in first:D, but he says no worries, he couldn't see of hear it anyway:):).

Woohoo just passed yesterday in kitchener with 5 errors. Pretty much the same route as posted earlier. Thanks to the previous guy for posting the route! Got dinged for missing some "hazards" in the neighbourhood . . . even tho i was turning my head a full shoulder to should every 5 seconds even though my eyes were still going straight LOL but oh well. Examiner was an olderman with white hair, seemed like a hardass but all went well. No more road tests for meeeee!

Has anyone done their M Test recently in Orillia?

What route?

Thanks

Great thread. Does anyone know the route for Sault Ste Marie? I have to do that this summer but I'm not familiar with the streets here and need to practice. More of a trail rider myself. Thanks.

Yes you go to plains rd.
Sounds good as some one told me its north shore to king then to plans and up to gew and back but you went east on northshore ? Ultra_09 post a route going the other way just want to make sure as I'm new to Burlington only been in town three month

Read through whole thread prior to taking the test. Passed and thought I'd share my 2 cents as well.

1.) Ask questions prior to test, things I asked were if changing tire tracks beside tractor trailors, potholes etc. Clear up anything you are unsure of before taking the test.

2.) Easy to forget to keep a "safe" distance (1 bike length) while riding and in my case when stopping. On a couple occasions I realized I was a little closer than they would really want you behind a car. It's easy to forget when riding your own way for a while.

3.) Checking left right left before intersection. Sounds easy, difficult when it doesnt come natural to you. Forget once despite making an effore to do this everytime.

4.) Bring your own headphones. If you have a tight fitting helmet, the earpiece they give you is bulky and will not fit in your helmet without force. I managed after 5 min to force the earpiece against my ear while pulling on my helmet. Not an easy task and just managed to have it sit around my ear close enough to hear it.

Most of all, just stay relaxed. It's really not hard at all. Keep in mind blocking position, do not break any laws, full stops, exaggerated head movements. If you are a decent rider, you will pass.

Good luck!
