Copy of the M Test (M2X) checklist!

Congratulations! Only 3 pts that's really good! I'll post my results on Tuesday.

Oh sorry.. Yeah I meant the motorcycle handbook. It basically gave me all of the elements needed for each "task". Read the section (about 20pgs) 2-3 times in addition to going through the thread, the checklist and looking over the route in Google Earth.
I was scared when he changed it up a bit (took me down Bayview, right into some random street and back to the test centre without doing the roadside stop) as I figured he was going to fail me, but he just appeared to have understanding for the situation and saw that I could handle the bike safely.

I passed my m2x this week at Downsview. I should have pass it 6 weeks ago, but that day when I came there they said "when we have snow on the road, we cancel tests".
Anyway, passed with no problem, two dudes were extremely friendly, explained everything, they said ride as usual, mind your blocking position, turn your head a lot and you will be fine.
The only issue - could not hear a thing as soon as we get on Allen - may be it would be a good idea to ask before where do they want you on a highway and off.
There is some video of motorcycle test, enjoy

anybody done their test in brampton? hows the route there?

I'm scheduled for Friday in St. Catherines. I live in Toronto but they have the earliest date available. My M2 expires in mid-june, the guy booking the tests couldn't tell me the exact date for whatever security reasons, but he would happily take my credit card number. Go figure.

I'll practice on the way down there moving my head constantly and staying in my blocking lane. Thanks for the post, I'll let you know how it went.

Passed my road test in Aurora today. Thx to Car2Slo for the copy of the test and everyone else for their tips. As mentioned numerous times before over exaggerate your head turns, ride sensibly and you'll be good.

I was wondering the same thing, mine is coming up very soon

Did the test today, and Passed .... :D:D:D

Here's the route I took at the Brampton Test Centre: Link to Route

If you follow the tips in this thread as well as practice on the roads near your test center you should pass.

ps. I have integrated turnsignals in my brake light and it was not an issue. the examiner was polite and gave most directions well in advance of the turn

I passed on Friday in St. Catherines! Woot woot! Advice from the guy before me on his second attempt: he failed for not advancing into the intersection for a left turn.. he just let the light change and didn't go.

Also! You have to do a shoulder check when you turn left. (who knew?)

My noisy aftermarket exhaust didn't even get a mention.

And just as much people fail for being overagressive as overcautious.

Save yourself some money, insurance usually doesn't give you more of a break after your first safety course anyway.

ACM Z -- Nice.

I didn't read the entire thread... it's huge! From what I did read, you can't win on the Expressway. Either you get marked down for "over limit" or "not traffic speed". It is very rare that the expressway traffic moves at or below the limit... I know it is only one or two points over the entire test, but it looks like a lose-lose situation. In a test situation, I would personally stick to the speed limit rather than trying to flow with traffic. How many out there got docked points for this?

thanks for the advice, will check out this site.
thanks again.safe riding

Hey fellow riders,

Quick question, if someone failed the exam at the end of a M2X certified course, would they let you do the test again on the following weekend at an extra cost?

While I can't say 100%, I think the answer is "yes". My wife & I
took the M1 course some years ago. She didn't pass on the first try & took the test again for an extra $50 a couple of weeks later. M2 might be different though because it is a road test.

From what I have heard though, if you do the M2 exit course you are pretty much assured of passing because everything that you need to remember is fresh in your mind! Good luck.

Most courses will offer a re-test. some are even free.
But the re-test time will be based on availability, not guaranteed for the next weekend, etc

Great post thanks!

Well I did my M2X last week, passed with 10 points being taken off. Huge thank you to this forum for all the tips, suggestions etc.

The test was in St. Catharines in the pouring rain. A couple of the point dings I think are bogus but such is life. I was told I didn't accelerate quick enough to get on the highway - there was a transport truck coming up quick, in the construction zone near Ontario St., with no-one behind. So I didn't gun it and played it safe and pulled in behind him. Examiner told me that wasn't safe and that I should have floored it and pulled in front of the truck ... um yeah sure.

They also dinged me for not riding in the proper lane after exiting the QEW at Niagara St. The road is ripped up, no lane markings and it looks with barriers it is about 1.5 lanes wide, so I rode it like it was 1. Apparently it is actually 2 lanes there but I shouldn't worry about losing points there as 9 out of 10 people do lose points.

What I did find weird is he never asked me to show him my horn, signal, brake lights etc. worked. Just on the bike and go. I let him know up front my bike has mph on the speedometer, not kmh, and is registered in South Carolina where I spend some time - didn't care at all and commented that he would give me a 10 km/h leeway on the highway as a result, less so in the city.

Again thanks for the comments and help in this thread.

I'm glad you found it useful. They were pretty thorough about checking my baby out in Aurora. Wiring in the horn relay and replacing the brake light pedal switch were definitely worth my while.
