Cops

they ride any public transit for free, and why not, heck, the transit has a popo onboard if anything comes up, give 'em a free ride...win win...as for motorbike cops, yup, one person i know didn't get a bike until after they took the course to ride popo bike...when one would goof up on the course, they would have to ride around with a pink "dora the explorer" backpack for the rest of the day...and they get lots of bumps and bruises because essentially you are handed an 800lb bike to start on...tough love...

Depends what area you're talking about.
Toronto Police Service gets no choice since Rob Ford is cutting down.
Heck, TPS isn't even hiring, and when they do, you have no choice to pick what you want.
Except for parking guys.

I envy the training the riders get - and they practice on a bike someone else has to fix!

What's with motorcycle cops going squid in the summer? Hardly a cop worthy example.

I always thought it was weird that they year knee high riding boots, but then a button up collared Tshirt

Something tells me the boots are for kicking peoples ***** and not their bodily protection

oh... thats interesting.. so they'll just get on their radio and call 911 just as we the public would do..
the other interesting thing is that means that the Fines are more interesting to them then general safety.

They had some issues with some transit cops overstepping their powers, way overstepping. Something like stealing cartons of cigarettes and claiming it was part of a transit investigation as an example.

And because in the rest of the world, cops ride real bikes. Zing! (I like Harleys, but I couldn't resist.)

The Brazilian Federal Highway Police were the ones riding real bikes back in the day; behold the Volkswagen powered Amazonas...

I wont say I work for the TTC, but I will say I have close intimate knowledge of their security workings.
Yes, the special constables were let go because they WAY over stepped their boundaries (aside from that story, I also know for fact they used their police package crown vics to pull people over on city streets for offences and then "give them warnings". And many more stories I wont go into). They also were trying to fight to get firearms. The TTC and TPS decided these guys aren't worth it. They're MOSTLY egotistical pricks who wanted to be cops but couldn't get in. (don't get me wrong, a few are good guys).

And to whom ever made the comment earlier about using the radio and calling the police? That's exactly what they do IF they're at a station and something happens. They're referred to as the rainbow squad because they always show up after the storm... *rolls eyes* They're a joke to most employees.

i have interview with OPP, wish me good luck!

Good luck:)

I've heard that it was very hard to get on with them and a lot of them where ex coppers.

Hard to get on, yes, very! Especially now!

Ex-coppers, no, definitely not. Like I said, some of them are awesome guys, but the majority are just idiots.. I watched two of them take down a guy half their size last week, smash his face into the ground, break his nose (blood everywhere) and shout "Yeah!? You wanna be a tough guy! I told you not to **** with me" while putting the cuffs on.

Very professional...put on a great show for the crowd.. And in the end, TPS showed up and released him at street level. Didn't want to charge him due to excessive force..

I've worked with retards like that...you would think this day in age with every one having a camera on their phones these thugs would cut that crap out.

Wow, thanks for the details. It's probably safer _without_ them!!

From what I can see, the GO security seem ok. Anyway, back to the thread... :)
