Contour bankruptcy sale, Roam2 for under $120 shipped!

btw - if you want spare battery Nokia has been using the same battery, its just a BL-5C, ebay has them for cheap....you may even have one in a old cellphone kicking around

I used to work for Nokia and as luck would have it I have 4 BL-5C batteries which of course I cant use in my Contour Roam... SO if you have a higher end model with the removable battery and would want to swap for a mount you arent using let me know ;)

ill pass because i want a separate charger and im going to order a charger/battery combo off ebay.... and i may have one kicking around i still gotta check...also looks like samsung used the same battery at some point.

Did my first test ride today and the view was actually quite good. Unfortunately putting it on a RAM mount behind the windscreen is useless for me. I can see the reflection off the speedo/tach and at night all I can see is speedo and tach and lights off the different cars. Also the dirty windscreen is horrid! Also the video was all upside down even though the lens was at 0deg which to me should've been right side up.

def need to find a good mounting place on the bike or possibly helmet. I'd prefer bike (mirror stalk for example) or top of helmet to get full view and not just one side of my head.

try a tinted windscreen....even wore lol
im going to radio world next week and getting some of their ram mounts that are a ball with a hole so i can mount it on one of my fairing bolts or mirror bolts.

Storyteller is proving to be ******* useless, every video I try now with embedded data fails no matter where it is being uploaded to.

Anyone know how to embed the data outside of storyteller?

"If you have recorded a movie that contains GPS data you can export the data in one of three different format. To export the GPS data from a movie, start with the movie already imported in to StoryTeller. From the Library view, select the movie and then choose File -> Export -> Export GPS data. You will then have the option to choose a location for saving the file. You will also be able to select between .GPX, .CSV, and .TXT formats.
There are times when you may want to import GPS data in to a movie, such as after you have edited it in a third party editor (a process that will strip GPS data out of a movie). To import GPS data to a movie, select the movie from the Library view of StoryTeller. Click on File -> Export -> Import GPS data. Click on the Open GPS File button in the upper right corner. to select the file containing the GPS data. It must be in the .GPX format.
Once you have selected a file, a new dialog box will appear. On the left will be a window with your movie and on the right will be a window displaying the GPS track. Using the sliders under each window, find the place where the GPS data and your movie are aligned. A common way to do this is to find the place in your movie where the actual GPS data should begin. Once you have selected the spot in the movie where the GPS data should start, click the Save button.
StoryTeller will then import the GPS data to the movie. Playing that movie in StoryTeller on on the Contour website should now also display the GPS maps and track."

im still searching... i found something else yesterday that told you what software would do it.

edit: got a mac?

I just got back from a vacation in cancun. The camera (i got +2) arrived a day before I had left and I had a lot of fun using it underwater and out of water as well. I never really recorded without the waterproof case and all I can say is that it was damn good money spent lol

Anyone willing to lend out their contour +2 this weekend? Or know of a store with a decent return policy? I dont see contour being sold in futureshop/bestbuy.

I am going kiteboarding across simcoe this weekend and would love the gps feature. I lost mine at a different lake.

Decent return policy as in buy it...use it...and then just return it even if there's nothing wrong with it? WTF why have I never thought of doing that!? Is that how rich people get rich by saving money? LoL On a serious note...make sure you don't lose this one in this lake and have fun! Kiteboarding is awesome fun.

All I can say is those who got the camera for $120 are laughing as that's an amazing price. It's a good camera for the casual user and the picture quality is great.

I took it out for some night and day shots on the bike.

I am quite satisfied with the day shots but low light situation during the night is pretty poor. Not sure how much better the GoPro Black version would be for night shooting. The video looks much better in its original rendered version. Youtube kind of butchered it a bit.

Did you try changing the camera settings to night mode in Storyteller? It brightens the image at the expense of adding a lot of video noise :(

Mount was a little loose, apologize for the blurry/shaky video at idle.

What mount did you use for this video?

What mount did you use for this video?
This was the Contour Roam2 converted to use GoPro mounts using the GoPro Tripod Adapter (and cut the shaft off a 1/2" long by 1/4" bolt so had a threaded rod to join them together). It was attached to the normal gopro clip in mount, which was clipped into the GoPro adhesive shoe stuck on my rear tail bodywork.

As you can see from the video, at idle or certain RPM's there was a bad resonance shake. I found out it was the sticky base on the gopro shoe, allowed too much movement of the camera. So instead of that setup I bolted another GoPro Tripod Adapter right to my tail bodywork, attached the GoPro Tripod Adapter on the bottom of the Contour right to it (had to trim one ear off the tripod adapter on the Contour half), super rock solid.

Sorry, this was the only pic I could find of it :(

Anywhere around the GTA still have the +2's in stock? I'd like to pick up one or two more?

Perhaps Radio World. Last time I was there, they had quite a few roam2 and plus2's. Not sure if they're going at a discount though.

Who fixes contour cams now that there is no contour cam? My white balance is not working in any setting.
What would you expect the repair cost to be for a $120 camera?? If it was a GoPro I have the software to totally factory wipe and re-program them (not just the firmware), maybe the same stuff exists for the Countour? I'm too lazy to google at the moment but if you can't come up with something I'll ask my guys on Monday.

Is storyteller dead for anyone else? It refuses to let me log in, the login works on contour.com but not in storyteller.
