Well it all depends.... Are they being burned in retribution by the people they victimized for what they did or are they being burned by the church itself to destroy evidence of the atrocities?
Do you really think there is a justifiable reason to torch a church? Does that also make it possibly OK to torch gov't buildings and police stations if you are a descendent of Jehovah, Chinese or Japanese that was interned by Canada during WWII?
Great critical thinking @nobbie48 and I admire most of what you have said (in post #17)
I can relate to being in a residential school and the experience may not have been the "kindest" but it taught me good survival skills. No ill-will to the clergy that operated the school, it must not have been easy for the eight to manage a crew of 200 plus rambunctious youngsters.
I get annoyed by some of those arguments too. For instance fire fighters have to pass a physical fitness test that was theoretically based on the demands of the job. In some cases, females were allowed to do a test with a lower bar. wtf. Was the original test based on the demands of the job? Are the females doing a different job? Sure, look at the test and adjust it if it was not relevant to the work required, but a pass or fail shouldn't be dependent on the participants anything other than score.
A digression and my apologies

Unfortunately, the outsourcing to Asians (cheap cost over quality) took away much from career prospects here.
Many of us were compelled to train lowly qualified replacements. What is worse is that the "replacements" were rotated so that an entire department was trained and the extras went on to service other clients with the culled expertise.
Of course, the local MP could do nothing because the business had deep pockets and the "replacements" ended up functioning from their home country.
Think about your experience with an Offshore Help Desk, not always the best.
Most of the development organization in our place is Chinese, mostly from mainland China. I could give you a long list of why I like them, but it’s mostly because they are sane. Absolutely no drama.
ive been working with one of the guys at 5 companies over 20 years and he’s basically the real life Mr Chow. You can always tell as soon he walks into the office… “what up mother******* ?”. He could care less about political correctness. I really like him.
Scares the hell out of some intern from a Liberal Arts College. They don’t stay around long... LOL

That's a good question(s). Oddly, there's no video cameras facing these churches that are getting lit up. Either that, or it's not being shared with the media.

Obviously an inside job. Have you read Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons? It was obviously the Camerlengo - an electric Harley Davidson was seen fleeing the scene after the fire was started...

What are the chances that the burnings are similar to the looting with protests. A dumbazz or two with no skin in the game just want to vandalize. Thank you media for literally fanning the flames.
With the population gradually becoming predominantly secular, the catholics should be thankful the atheists aren’t burning them at the stake for not not believing in retribution.
I would think that if the church wanted to bury evidence, they would just disappear it without burning down the building. On the other hand, I think many of the churches burned down were unused so maybe the church decided to monetize their asset (eg insurance fraud) while at the same time hoping the people besmirching their "good" name would take the blame.
I guess you can't rule out church leaders torching their own churches. Now I'll have to reconsider thinking that 'white hooded rednecks' burn Black churches in the deep south -- and start considering it might be BLM.
I betting the hate criminals are the first thought that comes to mind. Doubtful there will be any investigation or prosecution for these events.
