Chinese Rotors

No doubt about Galfer, but where do OEM rotors come from???

For Supersports probably Japan. For Ninja 250/300/650, the CBR 125/250 just about everything comes from Thailand...then again their factory quality control is probably top notch. I'm seriously considering picking up the $45 Arashi chinese rotor though, those guys look legit. For how little I use my rear brake no way I'm forking over hundreds of dollars...

There have been complaints about frame welds and rust since Kawi moved production of those bikes to Thailand. Just an example of how it MAY not be top notch (not saying they aren't, just that they might be).

Off the top of my head I'd say its more due to all those bikes using basic steel frames vs. aluminum in higher end supersports, I could be wrong though.

The complaints were based on comparisons to the same model which also had steel frames. Also a steel frame doesn't mean the welds have to look crappy, especially when they didn't on the previous year's model.

I just picked up a set of Arashi front rotors and ebay rear for my 929RR, will be mounting soon with a new set of tires.

I put a pair of Chinese rotors on my ST1100 after the originals hotspotted badly.
Seem okay so far.
About a third the cost of Honda OEM

i dunno that I'd use em. they don't have nearly the same standards in manufacturing, nor the same metallurgical standards as well. EBC isn't always what it's cracked up to be either, I remember a bunch of guys on the 250 forum I was on were having probs with their front rotors eating brake pads cause the holes hadn't been deburred properly.

There's crap that comes out of China but there's also crap that comes out of Canada and the US. Funny thing is, I'm pretty sure there's a reasonably active propaganda machine working to let you know a lot more about the Chinese crap due to the way they do international trade that ticks off the West.

Do your homework and separate the wheat from the chaff and I'm sure you can find Chinese well-made bargains.

I don't think I would be putting braking components from China onto my bike.
How sure are you that the OEMs don't come from China? Even Audi and BMW are loaded with parts from China.

Looks like Mikey only does rotors for SS bikes...I've got a little *** 250

Call him, he began by making rotors for the 250 first before moving to SS bikes.

Few people that I know who build customs in the states.. Use the Chinese rotors with great success. I have a few friends who run in wera who use them as well.

Just like anything, you could have good and bad runs of parts. But from my experience and knowledge from others, the Chinese rotors are fine.

It isn't China rotors that are the problem. It's the ones that come from China that don't have a "standards test" lol
