Cheapo ($50) Stereo bluetooh headset and intercom review (deal extreme)

I got this unit after seeing this review (thanks!), but strangely enough I have volume problems. Both with the com between the two headsets and the phone to headset, once I get on the highway (with earplugs), I can no longer make out most. That's with both the headset and phone volume at the max setting.

The headphones are behind the thin part of the helmet liner, so I don't think that contributes much.

Not problem when going slow of course and I can actually hear them when I take the helmet off, so it's not like they're super quiet or anything.

May be a defective unit? Still generally happy with them, given the price, but a little annoyed as well.

is your phone volume up as well? I can't remember on my old iphone, but on both my galaxy1 and gs2 android the headset has a volume setting and the phone volume setting is separate. little annoying. not an issue for city where phone at 50% and headset can be lower or higher to compensate, but more an issue on highway.

intercom is flakey at highway above 120 for me, ok enough below. music is fine all the way through.

my sets are now quite old and I had to resolder the mic connection on one twice and I'm now thinking of getting the newer updated model. looks sleeker and thinner but less battery life.

Turned out I just needed nicer earplugs. The old ones were just blocking out just about everything. The new ones are supposed to be smarter about it and it works!

Loving this thing. Thanks for the review - really couldn't afford one of the brand-name ones.

hey guys i just buy the same intercom from a guy in scarborough for $ 110 CAD (two units) and he sell a spare unit for $ 60, he mention that he got lot more units... if interested email me and ill give the phone number

I got this last week, used it during my commute for 2 days. Last night it died, it will not turn on. I tried reset, I charged it fully, still dead. I opened a RMA ticket with dealextreme.
After 2 days of use, I say that it does the job for hands free calling, but for music, forget it, the speakers are awful.
You get what you pay for.

Replace the speakers with something else. I've just been using them for music with standard headphones so far and they have been pretty good. There is definite background hiss, though. Not an audiophile so don't know what to call it, but that hiss you hear when it's supposed to be silent.

I'm just going to put a microphone inline with my headphones for calls and linking with another one. I haven't even tried the speakers that came with them.

I tried using some Shure earbuds (very good) with the unit and it wasn't a big improvement. It's crappy sound coming out of that thing, so new speakers will not change much. Yes, I don't expect high quality sound, but not absolutely horrible either.
Maybe I just got a bad unit (well, obviously, I did).
Anyway, this thing worked for 2 days. It's dead now.
Dealextreme offered me 15.55 USD refund without me having to return the unit. I took it, and I will eat the $30 difference. This should teach me, again, that I'm too poor to buy cheap stuff...
I ordered a Sena.

Picked one of these up a month ago from ebay they updated the technology in them works great and for 2 of them for under $100 is a bonus
