Whats wrong with it? Seems pretty good to me...

For the love of the baby Jeebus please clean that jizz filled sprocket. The chain is so nice yet you have a gummed up mess further down. D:

do you all you DIYers balance your rear tire too?...or just the front?

I do only because it takes very little time. With the chain constantly raping the sprocket (or the sprocket raping the chain?!), balancing seems unnecessary to me..

Both. While the rear balance is somewhat negated by motion of the chain, why not get it as close as possible I say.

Exactly, people always tell me to not balance the rear, but since its my bike I'm a perfectionist

Joking right? I daily commute this... you are asking the impossible.

You managed to clean the chain perfectly. Its not hard to spray more chain clean to clean the sprocket off. But I just like my stuff clean.

I clean my chain at least once a week if not twice and always clean it after a rain fall, I lube it after 250km (one gas tank)
When I see another bike I usually have a look at the chain, there seem to be very few people that properly maintain their chain.

...cleaning the middle section of your sprocket is just fancy ;-) I'll do it once or twice a riding season.

You can see in that picture how on the left side of the right tooth it's perfectly flat/straight, the tooth profile has worn down. Soon it'll start to "shark fin", then she's done. Compare it to the normal bump on the right side of the tooth.

If you wanna get more than 20k outa your sprockets don't get aluminum next time ;)
