Cheap GPS device @ Canadian Tire, may be great for warm weather rides.

yes i copied everything.. i am re-installing everything.. hope things work out

Why don't you just download those 4 zips from \iGO Canada complete.
That setup has all four English TTS voices and comes preset with Susan. I've personally copied it to at least a dozen units and TTS worked right away on all of them - no additional adjustments, installation or copying necessary.

Re-installing fresh didn't do the magic either however i copied my original(fully working SD card) made a copy of it and copied over the other SD card..

Though its working now but for future reference i will download \iGO Canada Complete setup incase i need to install it for others or for myself..

Thank you again for all the help..

Ahh i just remembered one thing.. my poi for US is not working.. I have all the poi's copied under the root directory /content/userdata/poi .. Thank you again :)!

Hm, I haven't tested US poi. Are the zips unpacking without errors?

BTW, I see someone from computer named 'DJM-001' is using a sync utility (GoodSync) to download files from the FTP. Please do not do that - it may cause undesirable effects that will be felt by everyone (in fact it already did, but I corrected it for now).

Filezilla here
:D
With wicked speeds haha

It's \content\poi, not \content\userdata\poi, if I'm not mistaken.

I have everything working -bought 4 units

But while testing the device i cannot get the speed warning to work - I made sure to check all the boxes and the audio is on

I tried setting the percentage warnings at different levels but no go

I dont think it is working - has anyone experecined the same issues ?

It only works if the gps software (iGO) knows what the speed limit for the road you are on is. iGO doesn't seem to know the 401 or side streets. The original software that came with the curtice does.

THANK YOU my fellow bikers!

I posted a little illustrated guide for those who may have trouble following the info on how to crack this unit. I posted how I did it and got it working.
Have a look-see here: http://snagsblog.com/GPS/GPShowto.html

good guide BUT you don't need to delete the speedcam files... The GPS will work, it will just take a little longer to bootup the first time. After the first time you boot it up, it will boot up fast.

OR you can change the speedcam file to the North America (east) version and it will boot up really fast.

Also you should mention the Registry hack. You don't need to touch the shell.ini file. That's the way I have it and it boots up directly into windows and not the Curtice screen. I prefer that way and some other people might also.

So leave it alone then. The default application works just fine.

Some find that the default speedcam file will give an out of memory error, and the software will not load until you delete that file.

Some also do not want to see a windows desktop. Mine loads the Curtis menu, and if the SD card is in place it will load IGO from the Navigate menu button, and if the card is not in place it will load the OEM navigation software from that button.

Second that. On the other hand, 4GB SD cards are under $10 now...

How did you configure it to do that? I've tried the SHELL.ini, registry hack and the SD YFGo2CE.bld file... Mine loads straight into the Curtis menu and Navigation button loads iGO, but I can't make it switch to loading the built in navigator just by removing the card.

Using mortscript. You set the script to check for the existance of the sd card (check for igo8.exe file), if found it runs it, if not found it runs the original file. Then you set the shell.ini to run mortscript file. It reads the script and executes accordingly.

My autorun.mscr
If( FileExists( "\SDMMC\iGO8\Mobilenavigator.exe" ) )
Run( "\SDMMC\iGO8\Mobilenavigator.exe" )
Else
Run( "\residentflash\Coship Navi\Drive\Drive.exe" )
EndIf

My shell.ini
\ResidentFlash\mort\autorun.exe

mortscript can be found at http://www.sto-helit.de/index.php?module=page&entry=ms_overview&action=view

Using mortscript.

Great idea, thanks! The last version is in \tools\MortScript folder. Manual and your instructions are there as well.

Hi Vilad, I did that but still no success.. Please let us know once you figure it out :)...

Motscript idea is very cool.. So, if there's no sd card the gps is still going to work.. :).. another added feature :)..

Hey guys, is it possible to have live traffic updates on iGo8?

Not on the Curtis unit. Live updates require a hardware receiver that isn't built in.

If anyone is looking for an inconspicuous car holder (I dont like the window suction cup, just advertises that I have something to steal) I found a Car Vent Holder at Walmart for $13. It is a SCOSCHE and it was in with the Ipod/MP3 accessories. There are two and the one I got has a picture on the back showing that it can hold a GPS. It fits perfectly.
