Just to recap (and because Im none too bright) We just go the the FTP site, download everything there on to an SD, change the shell.ini, insert the SD card and we are good to go?
It's not that simple. You need to unlock the device first, then decide what you are going to install (you don't need everything) and then proceed with installation, configuration, patching...
- iGO8 is GPS navigation software to replace the built in POS. You can add US maps, POIs, buildings, text to speech, etc. to it later.
- MioPocket is a whole new GUI with tons of bells and whistles, including video/audio players, games, productivity tools, etc. It is not required in order to run iGO or almost anything else.
How big of an SD do I need? 2G, 8G?
4GB is has the best price/capacity ratio at the moment and will do the job just fine, but for ~$20 a piece 8GB are not too far either. I suggest MicroSD with an adapter, like this one - they are much more versatile.
