Cheap GPS device @ Canadian Tire, may be great for warm weather rides.

Just picked one of theses up today, they had like 20 on display. But i'm in Windsor though, so anyone in Windsor go the the CT off Huron Church. Very nice unit for the price. In the process of modding it right now.
Question: Can I load the IGo through the usb cord or do I have to put it on a sd card?

on an SD card since there is not enough space on the unit to handle iGO

When using the iGO software how to do you power off the device instead of the suspend mode?

Holding the power button for 5 seconds sometimes turns it off and sometimes puts it to sleep.......

Edit: Issue resolved...

I was loading the iGO software manually each time through WExplorer. Each time the power button was pressed the device was going into Suspend mode. NOTE: Powering down from within Windows CE only goes into Suspend mode.....

If you edit the shell.ini file (as several people suggested) to launch the iGO software from the Navigation button on the original menu, pressing the power button will then prompt with the Suspend/Power off screen.

O.K. makes sense now. Gotta go buy and SD card.

One more thing when I hack it so I can add IGo etc.... by following the instructions on that link a couple pages back will the original program still be on it.
Basically can I hack it an still run the original program untill I get an SD card to load IGO???

yes. you can still run it. but if you change the shell to launch windows explorer, you have to run it from explorer ie \residentflash\Coship Navi\Drive\Drive.exe

Upload them here so everyone can pick them up:

Knock yourselves out for a couple of weeks, I'll just change the password later:cherry:.

North America Maps for iGO 8

I split them into 13 different files :) i kept losing signal etc... so was the safest way to get it done
have 11 files uploaded roughly 100MB each, just unRAR them (WINRAR) and copy the files into corresponding folders or just copy the whole thing if u want the whole NA

Enjoy

Great Nas, thanks! I'm copying everything else I have there as well so you can all use that FTP as "one stop shop" instead of having to enter all those annoying captchas at two dozen different sites. I will eventually have to restrict access, but there will be plenty of time for everyone to get what they need. Knock yourselves out and let me know if there's anything else that may be added there.

Here's the FTP info again:

Just download the file in the link, unzip it and place the single file in the root of the SD Card

That is it

Thanks indeed guys.

No sweat, you are welcome. I'm glad people are taking advantage of it. I've put in come instructions there, but it would be nice to have a list of what's what and what to do first. I'll try to put something together before I forget what all those files are for :).

You guys rock... thanks for the data!

This system is easily 10x better with iGo on it than it came stock... much better routing, better interface, not as slow... and now with full N.A. maps and POIs!

Cheers

By the way, if anyone is looking to just have iGo replace the stock GPS software, but still use the original menu... all you have to do is modify shell.ini: mine now reads: \SDMMC\iGO8\Mobilenavigator.exe

So now, when I boot it up, I still get the blue menu (I don't need CE for anything).... when I click Navigate, it loads iGO8.... great little system now.

Excellent idea and hint. I have MioPocket installed, but it's totally unnecesary if you plan on using the device mainly for navigation with occasional audio/video playing.

Just to recap (and because Im none too bright) We just go the the FTP site, download everything there on to an SD, change the shell.ini, insert the SD card and we are good to go?

How big of an SD do I need? 2G, 8G?
