Talk about "What we've got here is a failure to communicate". It's one thing if you have an established business relationship, but this bozo's just making assumptions about his internet fame. What he should have done is establish the relationship with the dealer's management first, then talk numbers. I was on the dealer's for the 8 minutes I watched. And I hate dealers.

To be fair; Based on his catalog he seems to ask that because as soon as they realize this is his business and he's there to close deals and not fish it usually speeds up the process.

Ive had it both way , very polished and dedicated saleman and complete weasels . And I have spent the bulk of my life as a salesguy in one industry or another , so I know weasels .
On the other side , dealing with young guys coming in with a -122 credit score and almost uninsurable that want to take selfies in a car they couldnt afford in the next 35yrs would be exhausting .

No offense but you're post reminds me of a Tom Wait's CD in rotation now. One of the tunes has the lyrics "a rat always knows when he's in with weasels". Liked that line so much I jotted it down.

That’s the thing. Almost every dealer I’ve gone to has a massive inventory. They just know someone will come in an hour and buy the thing I didn’t.

Wilson’s in Guelph was great and I was honest with the salesman about budget and what I’m looking for.

Don’t care about how they get to $200/month on a 5 year with my GTI as trade.

Their best offer was $220/month on 84 months when I told them no to their first offer. They were shocked someone would even counter.

When I was there on a Saturday morning I counted about 30 people. Place is a zoo.

They were recently bought by a large corp that has 8-10 dealerships in Ontario alone.

I thought so too….turns out I was wrong.

I have no issue with dealers making money…but looking to get 30-50% margin on my car….id rather keep it as I’m not desperate.

Anytime I traded my cars, I let the dealer know upfront that I’m not a wholesaler and not interested in wholesaling my car. Let them know what i expected for money. If they are interested we talk. If not i walk

I did work for Mila Mulroney years ago. Very attractive woman but she had this “Do you know who I was “ attitude about her. I know exactly what you mean.
