A galvanized steel bucket.
... that's what dad always carried into a dangerous animal cage. You can rattle the handle to get their attention,
use it as a shield from attack or if things go real bad, beat the living crap out of them with it :|
So instead of asking him for his side of the story and listening and trying to deescalate they just sat there telling him to STFU and then jumped him. Both of them had 50-100lbs on the guy and were 20-30 yrs younger, was that much force warranted? What did they get charged with? im guessing they wont get fired or see any jail time either way.
Does no one else think the idiot old man was asking for it?
When you are in a position with no power, you should accept the situation and act accordingly. The cops are, after all, human. If you yell at a person in power, especially if they are having a bad day and have ego issues (vast majority of men do lol).....what the **** did he expect? He was using them as a verbal punching bag until he got physically shut up.
It's worth noting this kind of behavior will always exist within any enforcement activity unless you replace them with robots . Spend some time with truly evil people (rapists, murderers, people who truly love chaos) if anyone is curious why.

If I had a nickle for every loud ********* I was allowed to beat up, I'd be a millionaire by now
But, we're not, especially not cops, especially not when the guy poses no real threat, he just seemed upset and was trying to explain his side of the story, when the moron with a badge decided to jump him and start punching him in his face
If they cant handle the heat, they should gtfo the kitchen and let someone else do the job

Hey, I agree with you. Frankly, I hate cops, never had a good encounter with them, and think there's a certain kind of personality that becomes a cop (ego-centric, ignorant, educationally stunted); after all, the type of intellect who can see both sides of the coin will suffer immense cognitive dissonance as a cop.
It is safe to assume that cops are not there to protect us, cause they aren't. They're used as revenue generation, instill fear within law breakers to maintain order, and provide the illusion of protection for those who want it (note, illusion.) A true psychopath that wants to murder random people is going to murder a few people before they are caught unless they want to be caught.
With that frame of mind, it's really not a good idea to piss off someone in an authority of power, with a gun, that could beat the ever living **** out of you, then fabricate a story to get out of it (after all, cops words > public unless evidence exists right?) I'm just stating the stoic reality and how one may want to act in such a reality (as opposed to an ideal, which seems to be what the world wants despite it not being reality.)

Not condoning it, but getting beat up is a natural consequence of being an a hole. Next time it won't be the cops. Ron's 'friends' will do it.
We don't know how long the cops were dealing with him before 'they just jumped in and beat him up'. The video clearly isn't at the beginning of the confrontation. Had it been half an hour? Had Ron already struck out at them prior to the video being started? We don't know.
Could the cops have used more restraint and not given the a hole a chance at a lawsuit? Definitely.
I'm not pro law enforcement, but I've seen the crap these guys have to put up with day in and day out. No one is interested in watching a video of someone being professional and going above and beyond to help someone out, but we're quick to judge them on incomplete information
I've always found this argument pretty funny. What do you think your natural instinct is when someone is tackling you? Cop or not.
Trust me, it's not gonna be "stand there and take it." That's only something you learn after being beaten regularly, when you learn that the best way to stop the pain is to not make a sound, not move, and to just accept the situation while repeatedly getting beaten over, and over, and over again, tears rolling out of your eyes as you try to suffocate any emotions.
The cops were on top of him and punching kneeing him in the ribs, he was in the fetal position holding his chest, he did not fight back at all. They didn't even ask him to come to the station to clear things up to see if he'd come peacefully before they attacked him.
Im pro cop and law and order but this was uncalled for and cops like this make the lives of good cops a pain in the ass.

I don't condone unnecessary violence. But I have no problem with police when they use reasonable force when they have to arrest someone.
In this vid, we don't know the back story. We do know the guy took on the police verbally, and someone called the cops accusing the guy of assault. I'll bet cops knew the fella, in a small town they know all the beer-bellied drunks, and knew what was necessary to get him to the station.
Nobody in the place standing up to corroborate his story, time to take him to the drunk tank. When the cops decided to arrest him he resisted. He fights back a little and they use some force to get him in cuffs. He gets up and waddles out with them, doesn't appear to be beaten. Mission accomplished, nobody bleeding, broken or dead.
I guess they could have offered him a beer and shared their donuts if he followed nicely.

I don't know how many real fights you've been in, instinct always favors survival -- you have to be trained to fight a low odds non-lethal situation.
If you're outnumbered 2:1 and outweighed 3:1 and you are twice the age of the 2 armed law enforcement officers on you - go for it! Here's hoping your all bark, because if you do have a bite it better be big enough to fend off a 2-cop style escalation.
My impression. It might be mistaken. Is that they have been down this road with this fellow many times before. If that's the case, someone will be down it with him many more times in the future.
