Canada Post - Huge losses

3 yrs ago we mailed each of every customer an invoice when they were shipped . 1000 per week minimum , and monthly statements. And they in turn mailed us cheques. We now email invoices , and started 2 months ago having customers than can , Etrans paymnets . Our electronic mail postage machine is mothballed and our laundry basket of daily mail is a shoe box.
Depending on end location I'll use a courier , Canada post lost the plot a long time ago from a corporate service point of view.

And my personal transactions are less with CP. My local guy left a parcel that required a signature sitting on my porch, yes it was a big box, and yes it should have had a signed delivery . Fully functional firearm , left sitting on my porch. ( hence make sure someone signs for it) .

Report it.

Funny enough that happened to my dad too, years ago. Had a Czech made AK47 copy cat and I think it was UPS that just left it on the lawn.

Our local would leave those parcel slips in our mailbox at the end of the driveway with the "No answer at door" box checked off because they were too lazy to come up the driveway. I'm assuming they did this a lot on the route to finish quicker. This happened a few times until I complained and said our camera's disagree that you actually came to the door.
Expecting something to show up and having to drive 15mins to the nearest postal office to get it is an inconvenience.

I’m sorry to hear that
You Have a lazy postie.

Signature items are one thing I don’t mess about with. The only ones that have “wiggle room” are for large apartment buildings over 3 stories with over 30 units.

I twice had a 18+ story walk through. And guess what colour of the day it was.

FML.

That’s awful…
I hate walk through apartment buildings… seriously.. why can’t they have mail rooms like every other civilized apartment building?

Grimsby community newspaper , with 30,000 circulation asked on face book for carriers since CP is not moving his news , he had dozens of volunteers inventing routes , old folks that were going for a walk anyway . Guy interviewed on the news says his childhood paper route was his best job ever . This may be the future for fliers , old people walking around anyway . Mobilization of the greys .

My neighbour's kids were the local Mississauga News distributors for many years. Unfortunately our neighbourhood got cut, and then the side beside Erindale Park got cut, and now that paper is no longer in circulation because of cuts. Unfortunate as now the majority of our mail is junk.

As for mail...is the strike over? Wife got her child care benefits cheque yesterday in the mail...which was a bit of a surprise.

Government cheques are being delivered. Union knows that cutting income to the poor would end incredibly poorly for them (in public opinion, in being replaced, etc).

EXACTLY!!! Why does some postie clerk need an add on like that?
"Cause it's cool and I didn't have to pay for it from my pocket"
"Why oh why won't the budget balance itself? We don't understand how we are losing money. Quick, buy more EV's with bull bars. That will definitely put us on the path to profitability."

My guess is that EV truck fleet was heading to a law enforcement agency and the deal went south . Canada Post to the rescue !

I wonder how much CP spend on charging stations at the depots?

You’d like to be part of that contract install. Guy said they are $2500 per unit , $25,000. sounds right , issue the work order!

The union asked for volunteers to deliver the government cheques.
Unfortunately, those volunteers will be working without any form of protection. The depot supervisors waited about 45 minutes after the volunteers departed - they piled into several vans and went out to do “safety inspections” on the volunteers. Basically, if they see you doing *ANYTHING* wrong at all (not using a hand rail, putting 1 foot on grass, crossing the street where there isn’t a crosswalk or intersection), they will fire the offending postie on the spot. This of course will eventually be reversed when an agreement is in place. But it’s an intimidation tactic.

There are also documented cases of CP higher ups going to the picket lines, finding out people’s names (hi! I’m XYZ, I’m new here, what’s your name? Or, asking posties who other posties are) and also firing them on the spot. We have been told not to say anything to anyone that we don’t recognize and inform our picket captains.

So pretty lousy behaviour on their part…

Actually, there are VERY few depots that have any electric vehicles at all.
My depot just received about 5 of the new right hand drive trucks that are build on the F250 platform. Guessing each one is $90-100K a piece with all the equipment and modifications. CP has purchased over 1000 (from what I’ve been told) of these for usage across the country.

I heard they were very short staffed delivering the cheques, and no "inspections".
