Can insurance quote me a price and then cancel after i sign?

You have no idea what you are talking about , come to my office anytime for a talk about insurance to see who is naive and who is a keyboard genius. Message me for the address if you are interested. I have forgotten more than you think you know .
Yes the liability is covered but you said the boat , the boat is not covered for theft or physical damage under your house policy. If you think it is you are wrong.
Ok keyboard genius. Perhaps you should re read the original post, it talks about blanket liability.

I left the industry earlier this year, I haven’t forgotten anything yet. If you really want to learn more than what Google teaches, I can help you with that.

i offered to have you at my office for a discussion. The stuff I deal with is beyond your industry experience , trust me ,you don’t know much. Sounds like the industry dumped you more likely. Reach out anytime If you want to learn .
Oh and here’s your original quote about your boat...no mention of liability....maybe go back and read what you said before posting ?

“As for homeowners insurance on the boat, yes it does. My dinghy is 700hp, my insurerer sends my club”

. not even a complete sentence let alone any mention of blanket liability...but yeah you know a lot...hahahah

It's a 2010 Hayabusa.

When I was getting quotes on bigger bikes my broker told me Wawanesa no longer writes sport bikes over 1000cc even though for some reason they can get a quote on it in their system. Broker even contacted the underwriter to see if they could give me an exemption for multiple reasons, no dice.

You had 5 yrs to upgrade to a M
Then bought a 1000cc+ under a M2
With a few yrs experience.

Did the contract for 800osh have any fine print?

Be sure you're comparing apples to apples.

Lots of people are quick to compare our insurance to cheap US policies but don't look at the bigger picture - our liability coverage here starts at 1 million and goes to 2 million for a typically token amount yearly. Those cheap US policies might cover $200,000, an amount that would be exceeded in a heartbeat in a serious lawsuit after a colission, leaving the insured person on the hook for the rest. In some situations that could result in someone losing everything, including their house.

Same for heath coverage - lots of those cheap US policies we all hear about may not actually have any health / hospital coverage whatsoever, and we all know how that works out in the USA. Is our system here in that regard perfect? Nope...but I think if people look at the nuts and bolts of what their insurance does cover if they ever need it, well, again, it beats most of those cheap policies hands down. Sure, they'll get the health coverage in the end but may end up with a lifetime of hospital bills they can potentially never repay.

Just spoke with a childhood friend back in the UK and the topic of insurance came up.
Full coverage on her car costs $380 per year and includes $35m liability....

get a breakdown of health benefits

$35m liability...

35 MILLION? That seems kinda off in left field. In a world where people sue for the maximum amount of someones insurance coverage when they find that out in discovery...offering this much liability seems wildly unnecessary.

May be a blanket liability insurance.

One of my policies carries $10m liability. It all depends on what you’re insuring and what risks you want to avoid.

I had a similar problem 2 years ago after purchasing my R1, called my car insurer whom is quite reasonably priced and the quoting agent gave me an unbelievable price of something like $700 a year I couldn't believe my ears I said yes yes please sign me up right away...then of course after it was sent in for approval I got a call the next day "sorry we can't insure that bike" I went back and forth and begged her to plead my case and tell them I'm responsible no claims etc etc and even got a letter from the company that insures my commercial vehicles that I am a good client with no claims but still they said no. Called around 5 other places that wouldn't touch the bike as a single policy, gave up and was going to keep R1 in garage for a year or two just to look at.

Tried one last company and they were nice enough to do as single policy for $1500 a year I think I pay. Not terrible.

Well, with full coverage Im looking at $4200. If 2 years of insurance costs more than the price of my motorcycle I feel we have a fuckin problem. Unless they want to buy me a new motorcycle every 2 years because I drove like a saint then I say the premium is bogus.
Whoa. Full coverage on a bike? As in fire and theft on a 10 year old bike?
Go back and ask for a quote telling them you want the bare minimum required by law. You'll have to repeat yourself a few times "no maam I don't want collision"

Rates would drop like a hammer if one could opt out of medical coverage. I don't know the relationship between OHIP and insurance coverage and how not having medical would affect OHIP costs. Socialism means we don't let people die. If lack of post collision therapy means someone remains a cripple we pay the special housing and care.

According to my wife who worked in insurance for years and figured they could drop rates 10% if they were more efficient.

The insurance industry relies quite a bit on OHIP co-payment as the primary payer, at least for emergency medical travel insurance.

After being out of the province for over two years, my OHIP coverage expired. Blue Cross supplementary travel insurance went from ~$200/year with OHIP to $1800+/year without OHIP.

Totally bonkers.

At that point, we just wrote off all Canadian-based travel insurance and instead went with an American company providing ex-pat coverage. It's not that much cheaper, but the coverage is way more comprehensive: $5M, optical, dental, drug plan, emergency medical evac, private room in a hospital, etc.

They simply have their **** together down there.

Buddy needed an MRI and was told at least 4 months wait here. He went online, made 2 calls and had an appointment in Buffalo booked 3 days out. Drove him to it and when he came out I asked how it went. He said it went fine but they literally asked him for his credit card before even saying hello. $800 USD btw.

I have a feeling that the sky-high non-OHIP travel insurance costs are priced that expensively so it becomes more of a deterrent to application from those weird full-time traveler/long-term expat edge-cases, and doesn't actually reflect what it costs them.

It's like insurance companies telling you it'll cost $9000/year to insure your GSXCBRZX1000RRRRRR. They're basically telling you, "FO and go away. We don't want your business."
