Last time i checked The Invaders were getting their *** whooped by a rag tag army of Taliban using WWII weapons VS the most advanced army in the world, including 40+ countries and air support. 11 years, no victory in sight, more soldiers getting killed every progressing year......Sounds like a defeat to me.
When u have talibans hunker down in caves no amount of technolgy can help. U can't get heavy artillery and tanks for support. Aerial bombings can only do so much. Its a matter or experience and skill. Remember some of these guys have been holding an AK since they were 12

Its all politics....We all know this planet will always have some kind of war going on.
Most of them know how to handle and ak since the age of 12, our enemy over there, wear the same cloth as the civilian, it's no where like a classic war where each side wear military clothes. Also don't forget for every death on the ally side, we kill at very least 200 enemy.
But to really win, we would need to spend at very minimum 20 years in the country and spend billion to reconstruct. They have entire generation of male use to do the war, almost every body of my age (24) don't have a ****ing clue of what is peace. Try to win over all of this.

can anyone military explain the first video? they are getting shot at, but not very much it seems like. Are they just firing in the general direction of the possible enemy? it seemed like a helluva lot of ammunition to randomly shoot in the direction of an enemy, sometimes without even looking down the sight. Maybe if they all tried to move out they would have gotten hit?

Suppression fire. Sometimes your job is to keep the enemies head down with fire in their "general direction" while another group/team/section advances/flanks/withdraws...
And yea, he is junk. You put it on the ground and get down behind it to reload it. Probably a POG who doesn't want to get his Multicam dirty. His rate of fire is too fast for a half box (100 rnds)

It cant be classical because its asymmetrical warfare. On one side you have B2, tomahawk, helicopters, tanks etc and on the other side AK-47, RPG's, Mortars, IED's and suicide vests. I dont believe the 1/200 stat, i am from Pakistan and know the war very very well. I dont know what winning means, Why are we there? Why are we building Afghanistan when 20% of American children are living in poverty, 1 in 4 for Canada.
I dont believe Taliban are terrorists to say the least. They asked for evidence to extradite Osama and it wasn't handed to them, so they were justified in protecting him. Taliban condemned the attacks of September 11, and categorically denied any involvement in it. Also Plenty of countries have their terrorists in American who aren't being extradited(Orlando Bosch, Ex Bolivian President etc).....Should those countries start invading US? There is no winning this war, Taliban will be back in power and there is no denying that.

^^ +1 I am trying to think of a major power that has NOT tried to take Afghanistan. The British lost; the Russians lost; and the Americans will lose.
And I am also trying to think of the official reason for Canada's being in Afghanistan. Was there ever a declared reason?
9/11 guys were mostly from Saudi, none was from Afghanistan and, as freak says, I do recall Afghani's asking for evidence to extradite Osama. Evidence was denied so what are they supposed to do?
9/11 was just the perfect opportunity for every country around the world to do whatever its always wanted to do (e.g. invade Iraq, or Afghanistan or whatever) and blame it on 9/11.

You make it sound like going to afghanistan was life/death for Canadians.. when in reality that desert ******** has absolutely no bearing on our lives whatsoever.
