Breaking NEWS- New iPhone 7 water resistant/proof

Pixel and Pixel XL announced today.. no real surprises, most of the stuff circulating before launch was correct.

Snapdragon 821, 4gb RAM, super-amoled screens in 5" and 5.5" sizes, rear fingerprint scanner. The standout stuff in the event was their praise of the camera, its supposedly ranked (dxomark) as the best smartphone camera ever, so that's pretty cool. Apparently the fingerprint sensor on the back also doubles as a sort of 'scroll wheel', another neat trick.

But damn, they've now priced it to the moon. $899 for the 5" 32gb and $1049 for the XL - same as the Note 7.

Oh and its not waterproof or dustproof rated in any way..

Now I'm super confused about what to buy. Note 7 has same battery, slightly bigger screen, and the pen.. and its IP67. But I'm a sucker for pure Google Android if I can get it.

Get the Note 7, root it and install AOSP...best of both worlds for you.

I'm trying to get away from rooting I think it's partly to blame for my g3 failure. Also I just wanna get regular updates and not worry about custom Roms etc

Why? Custom Roms work well, get the stock cleaned up rom. Get a solid Rom and it works better than Samsung's version.
Updates? seriously, it takes a year to update...I rather control what updates get installed.

I want 7.1 though...which the Note 7 will get, but who knows when

Meh, the more I read up on the Pixel, the more unimpressed I am with it.

Its trump card is a bag full of software tricks. Sure its got a great camera, but seriously, so do the iPhone and Samsungs.

No curved display, No stylus, No iris scanner, No water or dust proofing, Not really sexy looking... yet it costs as much as the iPhone and Sammy.

The Pixel is just another vanilla looking android phone with a premium price tag.

I dont care about an iris scanner, and I THINK the curved screen would be a detriment (can you get a good protective case and screen protector??)

The waterproof rating and stylus appeal to me though.

The real question is when the Note 7 is gonna be available again...before the pixels hit shelves? Maybe I'll wait to fondle both side by side.

Yeah that's disconcerting.. even if I wanna trade my Pixel XL (bit the bullet and ordered one today) for a Note 7 I probably won't be able to find one. Good luck to Samsung on that

They'll have to pry my Note 7 from my cold dead hands.

The thing is simply an amazing business tool with incredible battery life.

Case in point....

The old way: Sales contract arrives by email on smart phone while driving on the road away from office. Drive back to the office. Print the sales order. Sign it. Date it. Fax it back. Get back on the road and carry on with my day.

The Note 7 way : Sales order arrives by email on smart phone while driving on the road away from office. Pull out my trusty on-board stylus. Sign it. Date it. and email it back.

Pure Brillance. Thanks Samsung, I'm a fan and I'll be sure to put an order in for when the next Note 8 arrives.

I'm a little disappointed by the whole mess... hopefully they resolve it. If I'm not a huge fan of the Pixel XL I'm trading for the Note. Assuming its ever available again :-/

Just don't let go when it bursts into flames, you may get your wish. ;)
