Bought bike from a shady stealership. Need advice.

At this point I am curious as to where this bike stands compared to other similar bikes with no issues? If the OP keeps the bike and gets all of the issues rectified is he paying out a similar amount of money versus another similar bike with no/less issues? If so then I would just suck it up, let it go, and move on.

If he is going to be out of pocket above that amount then he should be able to get some kind of compensation from the selling dealer in terms of gear etc. If the bike gets rectified then I would just start to enjoy the thing and move on.

A good lesson for all of us though. When I buy a car I ALWAYS make a deal contingent on taking it to my mechanic for an evaluation. On my last three cars I ended up purchasing (and some were not bought because of things noted) I was able to have things discovered that the dealership had rectified (wheel bearing, tires, rear brakes etc).

And, from reading this thread I know of two dealers to be wary of. So, I am better educated than I was before. :)

I'm pretty certain its 360 motorsports, as I'm pretty certain I saw OP's bike around month ago there but walked away after realizing how unprofessional they were and seeing what crappy shape the bike was in.

Their price was a lot higher then it should have been, and considering it was an american repo they bought off auction they probably made more than enough profit that they could've spent a few dollars to get the bike drivable before delivery - the shape he got the bike in was just plain dangerous.

Even if they do fix it now they should be held accountable for trying to pull this kind of **** on people.

Tada! 360Motorsports it is. Stay away and tell others.

Good to know, and about VOS as well. I was actually looking into Vos. wanted to see their bikes.

Read your whole thread. Want to buy my first bike and now am paranoid after reading it. Cant go private (stole, dropped, unsafe) thought better buy a bike from the dealer. Would be Less headache. yeah right... Glad I found this forum. Even dealers are shady.

Seems like I just should ditch out a four year finance brand new. Save myself possible headaches.

thx OP

First post :) ill be educating myself with this forum now.

Buying a brand new bike for your 1st bike is a bad idea... buy something cheap and used, get it safetied at a reputable shop, then move on from there. Wrecking a brand new bike is no party.

It's hardly a bad idea, just ill-advised. If you can afford it, why not? Factory warranty, no mysterious history, and brand new everything.

Wrecking it would not be pleasant, that much is true, but if you've got the money to spend...

Every vehicle I buy from anything that isn't a proper OEM dealership I have inspected by a third party mechanic. You wouldn't believe the crap I've had found on vehicles that were being sold as safetied in perfect condition. Then again, most of those were old cars for under $2k.

Sorry to read about your bad buying experience. I've had such an experience in the past but everything worked out for me in the end.

Write a review about 360Motorsports in the Reviews section of this site. Eventually, this thread will be go stale, along with the knowledge about how bad this dealership really is. Preserve that knowledge by putting the right information in the right place.

Only way you're getting a psychologically satisfying bike is to buy one from a dealer brand new.

But food for thought. If you dropped your bike, would you put it away to never ride again?

Expect every bike to be dropped - takes one worry from your mind. And learn to recognize drop vs slide markings. That's a good start to learning and CSI'ing bikes. :)

I tried dealing with vos. They had a 09 gsxr 600 when I was looking that I loved. Pure white, had the undertail and a yosh pipe on it already. It had 9xxx kms on it and seemed ok. I never impulse buy so I looked around. I found a brand new 2012 at the dealer for 300 dollars more. Vos wouldn't budge. He argued with me they offer "best pricing that's competitive with everyone else" Then I started reading about some of the negatives of the bikes they sold so new it was. I won't consider dealing with them in the future at all.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience op. Hope things work out in the end for you

I will never purchase a used bikes from dealerships, and if you do, be extra cautious or skip the bikes coming from the U.S.. Dealerships is as bad as some private sellers, but at least if you are willing to spend time on it, you will get to find some good private sellers who baby their bikes, but every dealership are pretty much all the same.

There are some good shops selling US bikes, I bought an 07 CBR600RR from Can-North - and the bike was mint, not a thing wrong with it the 2 years I had it. His aren't the cheapest, but he's very picky on what he brings over, very clean and very low mile is the theme.

Im not plan to wreck a bike but im sure everyone said it. I hope not. Dont feel like falling off it at all.

Very true, new is always great. I'll have to pay double tho. So far from my research I would love to get 07/08 bike and be very happy with it. Reading threads like this isnt pleasant. Specially for someone whos new to this. Will have to educate myself as much as i can. Almost every thread on this forum is useful for me to read.

Yeh but where do I find a good mechanic? I don't know any shops, yet.

yeah, lots of things to consider, specially for someone who has never owned a bike or bought anything used. Its a process and a learning curve.

You don't need a good mechanic. Just one that isn't "theirs". I used Crappy Tire most of the time. While I don't trust them to do any work on my vehicles I do trust them to find a pile of flaws on the vehicle I want to buy.

This is the email I got at 1am last night from the owner. I sent him photos of receipt, my rear brake pads and my buddy's '11 CBR600RR rear brake pads as a comparison.
By the way, I'm no mechanic and neither is he.
I might actually make a trip down there :-/

"The bike was safety and passed inspection Like I said before the bike was a good deal
And in perfect working order when it left the shop.
U had inspected the bike before it was purchased.
And we looked it over together in the show
Room and everything was working as it should .
If there had been a problem the bike should
Have been brought back ASAP not to another
Shop. I would have inspected it a gain and once
A conclusion was met. Then a solution could
Have been met. This leads me to believe that
Your shop is working on your behalf and looking to
Gain profit and advantage. If u would like us to take
A look once again please shedual a appointment
And we would be happy to look at it
Thanks "

I, for one, enjoyed his writing style.

Sure, I just thought it would save him/her some money if things went wrong. If money is not a problem then by all means.

I don't care if you buy private or at a dealer, if it's used the number one rule is bring someone who knows, and not your buddy who's had his 250 for 6 months. I'm talking long term motorcyclist who also performs his/her own maintenance. This is the best way to get the best deal and avoid disappointment. Nothing wrong with buying a bike that needs chain, sprockets, tires etc. as long as the price reflects that. New riders who know nothing about wrenches are way more likely to impulse buy.
I am currently in the market for a computer, but can barely use one lol, I've been doing some reading, and have asked a knowledgable friend for advice.
Post up on here, I'm sure someone would be glad to help you check out a bike. Then there's the guys that would rather just make fun of you for going in unarmed.

gotcha.

Totally not surprised it's 360. I'm brand spanking new to bikes and that was the first place that popped up in my mind.

Boyfriend and I went there (because it's the closest to his house) and that was the first bike shop we'd ever been to. Guy tried to sell bf on a leather jacket, said it was on sale for $250 from $400 and that was likely the cheapest leather jacket we'd find. Tried to convince us we wouldn't find a better one and we should buy that one quickly before someone else does. We didn't.

Didn't have time to go anywhere else that day, so we didn't check out Kahuna until the week after. What do you know, leather jackets everywhere for $100+. Decided the guy at 360 was lying out the wazoo. I think we were right.
