Bought bike from a shady stealership. Need advice.

Are we gonna keep going round in circles or is the OP gonna name the dealer?

Show them this thread. Threatening to name the dealer and start a thread with the dealer name in it might just get you your money back. They won't want the bad publicity.

If the dealer told you to bring it in and you decided to get it fixed elsewhere, then it's no longer the dealer's problem.
The most you can get out of them is what it would cost them to get the issues fixed.

I feel for you OP, but you have to be able to take the majority of the responsibility here. You obviously realized there were issues with these guys being truthful with you and with the bike itself, and bought it anyways without a second set of eyes on it. Then, once you realize there are issues, you take it somewhere else to get fixed and don't give them the opportunity to right the issues. In my opinion, whether it's used bike / car / whatever, I expect to be bs'd by guys like this, and if I am, I walk away as you likely should have.

What you did is called impulse purchasing. Never ever do it. I hope it all works out but next time do some research and if anything seems off either find out all the details or walk away. There's plenty of bikes out there to be had.

I think that's what it was....I always shop around and sleep on things...not riding a bike for a week did it to me. I just wanted to ride and this moto looked good (on the outside at least).

I doubt you will will have any luck getting them to pay for work you had done. You discussed with them the strange headlight situation and bought the bike that way.

I thought there was a process in ontario where you could have buyers remorse and return a vehicle? That may also be ruled out now as you have modified the vehicle.

Depending on what the new inspection finds, you may be able to get the original mechanic in licensing trouble due to a faulty safety, but I'm not sure if your local mechanic wants to throw a fellow mechanic under the bus (even if they deserve it).

Personally I would push hard to return the bike for your original purchase price (in exchange for not publicly complaining and getting the mechanic in trouble). Eat the headlight bill and consider yourself lucky. A few hours walking on the sidewalk in front of the store with a sandwich board (*** motors sells unsafe vehicles, ask me how I know) normally encourages cooperation.

So:
1) the bike wasn't what you thought you were going to look at, and you found some issues while you checked it out, but you took it.
2) the dealer offered to fix it.
3) you solved the biggest problem at your own expense instead of taking it back.
4) it needs brake pads, which may have been a safety issue.

Have I missed anything? If the brake pads were no good, it may call the safety certificate into question, which may concern you.
If anything, you could go back the dealer to get the brake pads - because if they shouldn't have passed a safety, they would have put them on at their cost.

If I've got it right, then I suggest you stop worrying about it and start enjoying your new bike.
Otherwise - enjoy the bike.

There is no buyer's remorse / cooling off period if you go into a dealership of your own free will...I know I tried to cancel my car contract the day AFTER I signed it! LoL They would've charged me all these silly fees...in hindsight I should've walked from my deposit ($500) but that was 31,000km ago. Car's still boring and no fun at all...but it does the job.

No such thing.

The only time you can return a vehicle is if there was a claim and it has not been disclosed. It doesn't matter if it's a $500 claim or $20,000 claim. Also, if the vehicle is branded/rebuilt/etc. and was not disclosed, you are entitled for compensation if you choose to keep the vehicle or a full refund.

No such thing as a buyer's remorse.

Would have walked away from the buy when they said it was a new battery and the bike needed a boost to start.

Are they even obligated to fix the bike after they sold it?

I think the cooling off period only applies if the transaction wasn't done at their regular place of business. Like door to door sales, or some sort of exhibition/show.

Looking through the other ads for this particular stealer/dealer it looks as though they had multiple black 2009 600RR's... I wonder if the headlight was disabled, and these were used as a racing school bikes... This might also explain the suspiciously thin brake pad on the rear... Maybe the fronts had already been replaced already. Does the bike have the factory tires?

Out of respect for the OP, I won't state the dealer, but, I know who it is.
Just my thoughts.

Wow nikiter... sorry to hear man. If something like this happened to me I'm not sure how I'd feel about the bike anymore, hope it didn't ruin it for you.

Anyway, NAME AND SHAME!

Story goes...so grab popcorn.
I was in the market for a new toy. Looked at 3 other bikes before this one.
So I found 2009 CBR600RR on kijiji the other week. Black on black, ABS, looked clean in photos. In the add it stated that milege on it was like ~6700KM. So I'm like "Cool, low KM bike and price is not bad."
Last Thursday (June 27th) I emailed twice and even called telling them that I'm coming in to take a look at the bike after work, so get it prep for my visit. They were Ok with it of course. I drove there after work, Kitchener to Woodbridge. Not the closes way .
I walk in and they don't even know what I'm talking about lol awesome. The owner finaly comes out and I show him printed kijiji add. Walks me to the bike, then other older dude walks in and owner forgets me. Customer service fail. I started looking at the bike and check the milege on it....Damn it! It's in miles! I switch it to KM and it's 11xxxKM. I tell him right away and he knows I was ******. He started singing me a song that it must be another black bike because he's got a bunch of other black '09's there.....I tell him "No, this is the only CBR you've got in here that has ABS." I tell him to start it, bike doesn't start. I'm like "Really? I told you guys I was coming." He brings out battery booster and says that it has a new battery. Uh huh Ok. Bike starts. Let it warm up.....everything sounds nice and stock. I look at the headlights and both of them are on. I tried the headlight switch and one of them goes brighter but another still stays on. I tell him that ain't right, he said they changed that for '09 year. Lmao Yea Ok! He also kept saying all his bikes are clean and that his mechanic does safety on them. Anyways, looked the bike over and seemed Ok. So I give him downpayement and we basically agreed that I'll pick up the bike next week (this passed Tuesday, July 2nd). I closed my eyes on all the BS atittude he gave me as a dealer, wrong KM ect. I should have listened to my gut but I didn't! Jokes on me.
I get there on Tuesday, they didn't even bother giving the bike proper cleaning. Whatever, I didn't expect more from that place. We finish all paper work and I give him the rest of the money. Off I go with the car following me (brought a girl a long with me) back to Kitchener. Bike rode nice, nothing I could say about that.
We are 20KM from Kitchener and decide to pull over and grab some food for both of us. We ate. Went back to the bike and it doesn't start....I was like wtf?! Nothing, not even clicking. So I get 'er started by pushing and jumping into 2nd gear. Got home and called dude right away. He says "Oh that's weird, if anything bring it back and we fix it." I tell him that I'm going to bring this bike to local shops for 30 point check up.
Later that day I went out with my buddy's for rides, starting my bike every time in 2nd....so not cool. People also notices that my headlights didn't work. What?! So I check 20amp fuse and of course it blown. Replaced it with the spare. Magicaly bike starts now and headlights are on. Ok cool. We ride a bit and my lights go off again. Fuse is blown once more. ******! I could tell that obviosly screwed around with the wiring. We started looking over the bike and noticed that my rear pads are at minimal and break fluid reservoir is at minimal. Even rear sprocket looked warned up. People at the meet who are mechanics were telling me this bike shouldn't have passed safety like that. It was starting to get darker and I had to make it hope asap with no headlights (every other light worked by the way).
So yesterday (July 3rd) after work I bring the bike to local shop (mind you I was riding without headlights which is a safety hazard) that specialises in lights/audio and all other electrical in cars and bikes. Buddy starts diggin and was just "WTF is this?!" They had wrong size bulbs in their that were modified to fit in and all this useless wiring (I should post photos of all the crappy wiring he got out). Unreal. So after all bs and soldering he makes everything stock and looking nice. Just like a pro! Lights work good (low beam / high beam). He also confirms that pads are crap on the rear for sure.
So at this point I'm already going to send this stealership the bill for headlight work. But I'm thinking of bringing the bike into local bike shop and tell them to go over it (like I'm going to sell it) and find anything wrong or what it needs for safety.
I'm already sure that that Woodbridge place did Mickey Mouse safety....what a bunch of clowns. I will reveal their name after I'm done. Pretty sure I have like 30 days to deal with this since the day I purchesed the bike. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Thoughts/Ideas/Suggestion please.
Thanks for reading.
Original owner did a DIY job and installed HIDs or the wrong bulbs, dealership does straight turn arounds, they buy used bikes and sell them to guys like you for a profit, they don't really do much to it since the more they do the less they put on their pocket.

You got a good deal, you fixed the problems, be happy on your way, give these guys a bad review for not properly inspecting the bike before selling it to you and move on with your life. That's all.

I don't think this is such a big deal.

I am assuming the Original owner didn't like the one light out and tried to change the bulbs to H4's
