As far as reasonably close proximity, the US offers a heck of a lot.

Travel medical insurance is very cheap.

I'd counter there are some pretty awesome reasons to ride into the US for stuff we dont have here
Watkins Glen for sportscar racing, Moab/Antelope Canyon/Zion , salt water fishing in shorts and Tshirt/ T shirt weather in February, NY theater, riding through Penn State, Virginia. Blue crab in the Cheasapeake. So many great experiences and reasons to go.

But as stated above , dont go for a minute without medical coverage. Your in great physical shape, never sick, and get into a not your fault crash. Most have NO idea how increadibly fast that bill goes past your wildest imagination. In US dollars....
 
riding destinations are like companions
new is always more interesting :)

sure Canada has some great rides and places to go to
don't know about you doods
but time is my most valuable personal commodity
so border crossing offers me much more new over time quotient
 
Really access to PA and points south is one of the few redeeming features riding in the GTA.
Nexus makes it way mo bettah
 
There are places in the USA that are great. But Ontario has a lot to offer too. Anywhere along the Niagara Escarpment has roads and views just as good.
And why spend your Canadian dollars in a foreign country? Our local businesses need it.

When you point out an Ontario road that can even come close to PA 44/144 you might have a point.
Mountains are 1,000' higher and the roads are mostly well maintained.

Then of course there is the cops....traffic ....and fuel is cheaper.

Even with the exchange,...fuel is cheaper and often food is cheaper and in PA at least cheap places to stay ...part of that of course is that part of PA is rust belt and pretty poor.
 
decent lodging can be had for $60/night outside the cities
you'd be hard pressed to find anything acceptable anywhere in ON for under 150
gas is prolly about a wash
dining out can be much less, again, out of the cities

you also don't have to plan your day/trip quite so much
there is ALWAYS a next town close by with lodging/food/gas

roll into a town in ON late in the day without a reservation
you'll be lucky to find gas and a bag of chips available

say what you will about Americans
but they are the best at Capitalism
 
$4 a gal versus $3.60 in the us corrected for exchange. - yeah close enough.

Food in the Amish areas is incredibly cheap for a really good feed.

Ok you guys convinced me I'm gonna take a weekend trip to the US. What is the best border crossing to use? I mean with the least crowds and shortest wait.
