Bodyshops for Motorcycle?

I've been having a great year riding without any problem, but that ended today when a homeless guy kicked my bike while I was using the bathroom at Tim's. He was already gone by the time I came out of the store and people in the parking lot told me what happened. There is no point of trying catch the guy since I doubt he can afford pay for the repair.

Anyways, I have a large sharp dent on the right side of the tank and some scratches on my crank cover and the fairing around the cover.

Fyi, I have never had an accident with my motorcycles so I have no idea if there is a place that I can go fix this. Is there place like that in GTA?

Thanks in advance.

^ get a witness statement and this should be ok. I claimed for a collision on my car while it was parked once and it never increased my rate.

Didn't think any of that so it's too late for the witness. Eitherway, I didn't know car bodyshop can fix motorcycles.

Is there any recommendation?

On a brand new bike :/ that rots.

The best way to fix a smashed motorcycle part is to replace it with a new part, particularly when the bike is so new, everything else is a bandaid repair that will remind you of the incident for the next 40 years. I would start with the cost of the replacement parts and consider what is economically viable moving forward from there.

Sorry to hear this happened to you. I never understood why anyone would do such a thing, nevermind in front of a parking lot full of witnesses. Maybe ask the employees if any of them saw anything, or if they have any security footage. Or hopefully someone on here was there - post something more specifically asking for witnesses who were there at the time.

If you're able to go through comprehensive, the insurance company should get you new replacement parts rather than cosmetically repair what was damaged.

if you're covered for comprehensive
this should be easy, collect the info and call your broker
it is up to the insurance company to decide where it's getting fixed

With deductible and all, I'll just pay for the repair. Tbh, I'm not the type will cry about damage like this. I can put a sticker there for now and get a new bike next year. However, even if I want to trade this in, it's better for me to fix and trade so might as well enjoy the new look until then.

I wonder how much the tank costs. Not concerned with the cover and fairing since I just need to get some touchup paints.

I believe it’s your right to choose the repair facility. I never take my vehicles to any of my insurance company’s “partner” shops even though they are less hassle. I have a favorite place that has never let me down.

Can you help a brother out by let me know where your favorite place is? ;)

The way I look at it, it's up to the owner to decide what and how it gets fixed and up to the insurance company to say if they will cover the costs or no.

I believe you guys are correct
but OP didn't have a preference

if he was going through insurance
I'm pretty sure it would end up at a Honda dealer ~ parts
but he's indicated not going to claim it

ebay for used parts will likely be your best bet OP
a gas tank with a dent is going to be a ridiculous amount of $$ to repair/refinish

engine cover, is this the stator cover? maybe $200 for new one and that you can do yourself
same with fairings, a bit more money but it's not rocket science to re/re them
may be able to find used

nothing else? bar end? exhaust? signals? brake lever?

I agree, and would also suggest the OP check the US dealers (partzilla, bikebandit, etc.) for OEM parts as they should be much cheaper than up here. Tank might be the only crazy expensive part. Worth the drive to pick up from CBI.

There isn't much damage other than those three areas.

The stator cover is scratched so just need some paint. It's a brand new model year for this model so nothing online. I asked the guys at Honda so let's see how much the tank costs.

I rather pay guys near me to do the work than searching for parts and try to screw around with it. I work 12~16 hours a day for the next 4 month so I don't have time for that. I can generate more income by working those hours so economically doesn't make sense either.

Sorry about my dirty bike. I don't wash my bike. :D

bummer about the tank
that'd be an involved repair

pull the dent, fill it, refinish it
paint it, new decal then clear coat over all that
could probably get a car painted for about the same $$

the rest doesn't look bad, some touch up paint and try not to look at it too closely afterwards
that really sucks OP
karma will get that doosh canoe some day

If that's the case, I rather buy a new tank and replace. I have a set of R&G framesliders and barend protectors so saved the stator cover.

It's a tool to me so that's okay. I'm sure the guy is having the worst time of his life so I hope that made his day better and off the streets if he was homeless.

You seem like a good guy, sucks it happened.

Check out Cawthra automotive, they should be able to match the paint for you if you want to give DIY a go. Id pull the dent, sand it down a bit and paint over. If youre decent with a spray can and with some wet sanding and polishing after the paint it shouldn't really be noticeable unless you know.
