Boars in Pickering

Well I’ll be damned…not #1 but pretty close to McDonalds…

Just from personal experience when I was a travelling salesman through southwest Ontario….there were more subway restaurants than Tim Hortons…every small town had a subway. And I always had a sub there as a lunch time snack.
Something fishy about that list. KFC has >30% higher revenue than McDonalds and more than double the revenue per store? How does that happen.

Just to be on the safe side fellows , since I seeing some hunting references here. Its all good until you meet the MNR agent in "fish Cop" mode and he got a cold coffee at the drive through.
There is no air rifle season , or any rifle season for turkey. (yeah there are some modified air shotguns around, they will not knock down a turkey) . strangely we have a bow season for turkey. You can be fined for having the wrong ammo in your pocket, if your in an area where there is a deer season with No slugs, better not have a slug on you. Illegal to have one in your pocket. Same with carrying a .45, get caught with one while hunting in Ontario, permit with you or not, fines can be huge.
And the MNR agents do not need a search warrant for your truck , car or freezer, they need reasonable suspicion. They have significantly more power on this then police. Get caught with an animal that they suspect you took illegally, they can seize the gun, the truck , all of it.

I gave up shooting stuff years ago , I got soft.

They have no sense of humor. Buddy of mine was OPP in the north and hung out with COs. They were going fishing one day, and the CO reached into his truck to pull his ticket book out. My buddy asked him why. He said "in case we meet anyone breaking the law". My buddy grabbed his ticket book and asked the CO for his license so he could charge him with having beer in the boat. The CO wasn't impressed, but got the point and put his book back.

Damn it, a coyote was brave enough to bite a human and they went ahead and shot it. They should've unleashed it against the boars to see if it wouldve been as ballsy

ETF and toronto animal services tried to wait for MNR but eventually they shot it while it was lying down. Not sure what changed their plan. Having multiple teams waiting around seems like it was not the best use of resources.

MNR always seems to have problems getting places in a reasonable amount of time. I'm beginning to wonder if they all just sit back and take bets on how long before the cops shoot.

Where's the closest MNR officer with the tools and skill to get the job done? Aurora has an office but I'm not sure if that is purely admin or if it includes field staff.

News said they decided not to tranq as it would take 20 minutes to take effect and they weren't sure where it would go during that time. Not sure where that quote came from, it seems very wrong. If you have a coyote used to living in civilization and biting people, where could they conceivably relocate it with positive results? It would have been dispatched anyway for way more money to keep it out of the public eye.

Right on cue, "Protect the coyotes!" petition is up and kicking, along with lots of howls of disgust on Twitter.

Idiots.

'Protect the coyote' until it bites someone you love (like your kid, dog, or you).
