Went to Serpa BMW intro evening of new bikes ... not a good move on my part. :banghead: Saw the new S1000R and fell in love with it. Ordered a new one ... sad news, I have to wait for production in June because I want a white one and there are none in Canada with everything on it. Will get the bike end of July or early August. Damn, that's a long time to wait. The red one was nice (but no my colour), the blue one was down right ugly. Can't wait to ride it. Guess I will have to keep looking at the pic until she arrives :sad11:

Congrats! I'm jealous, that was my favorite bike at the show.

Did you try other 1000cc nakeds before settling on this one?

What would come close to all of the options on the S1000R?

can you share your bill of sale? what options did you tick off, and total price?

I got everything but theft alarm ... I consider myself lucky as a regular customer ... I did not have to pay list price.

Aprilia Tuono - is like an angry Italian compared to an educated german - beside where do you buy one and get it serviced.

As far as Kawi and Honda, they might be the same size but that's where the similarity ends -- absolutely no comparison. It's like comparing a Honda to an Audi ... really?????

I was hoping you tried the Z1000, it felt really solid and well put together just sitting on it, on par with the S1000R. Pricing is close too, I believe.

Congrats, that's the current bimmer I'd consider buying next.

Am I missing something??? Does the Z1000 have DDC ... NOT?

Fine then, be like that.

They're similar bikes.

Jeez.

Oh now c'mon, be a little more open ... go to a BMW demo day and ride one. You will see and feel the difference for yourself. I've compared all of the bikes mentioned and honestly there is no comparison. I've been waiting for this bike to come out and wanting the bike for some time now. It's worth a demo ride

Did you buy a bike or a list of acronyms you can drop all over the motorcycling plebs?

BTW you meant DTC.

Enjoy your electronic gizmos.

Ha, no it has that too, but I meant Dynamic Damping Control.

Actually it has DTC, DDC, ABS, DSC and all that in 2 different riding modes.

Don't be like that ... you asked me why ... and I answered

I'm reading it like this..... nice bike. Blah blah blah bunch of electronics that will break and cost a fortune. Blah blah blah everything else sucks blah blah blah.

Add to that...What's the price difference between this and it's competitors.

Well ... 3 years warranty, unlimited mileage, roadside ... not a bad thing to have. Not saying other bikes are bad, just saying this is what I chose and answered why when asked

Does look nice. I love the rr personally but your bike in either white or that dark blue is killer

Thank you Roomie. My husband has the RR and I gotta say it's BEAUTIFUL but too much for me. I've ridden it a couple of times and it's just to frantic and uncomfortable for me on the street. He loves it and uses it on the track only now. I think the new R will have better mid range and seat position for me on the street. Interesting comment on the blue colour at the presentation. I personally didn't like it but a lot of the people there loved the flat dark blue one.
