Black Friday/cyber Monday deals?

That samsung tv at futureshop is also a 60 hz model. Might be fine for some but if you're into stuff like that you want 120 if not 240 and those prices don't come down like that.

Anyone else smell desperation from the stores?

Seems that all TV is doing last couple days is shilling Black Friday and Cyber Monday, trying to pump up the masses to go spend money. Creating a hysteria of "not missing the deals!"

All i know is i'm staying the hell away from any and all shopping centers.

lol

stores and their ridiculous marketing, but i guess its working since everyone lines up like a sheep to buy crap they dont need cause its on "sale" cough cough
That's what I said and I work for CT, next year is yellow fever Wednesday

Red Liner the idea is that Canadians were going south to buy american this weekend, black friday was created as an incentive to keep the money in Canada, it was so successful that now stores are coming up with one more day (Thursday)

a few years from now it will be black Black November and on and on

They have Black Friday week now. Its not indifferent to how they no longer having boxing day sales, they are boxing week sales

Oh i know, a few years ago they started to compete with US and try to keep the $$$ in Canada, first by pulling at the patriotic strings, then when ppl told them to STFU as the dollar was on par and yet we were paying 30% more, they started to actually put out deals to compete.

It just that this year, it seems as if though there is almost a sense of desperation to try and get the shoppers out there as much as they can. Not just "come to my store" but more along the lines of "Please, just shop, period!"

I normally dont jump for these kinds of sales but Im in the market to buy some stuff this year and there are some good sales out there.

CT has a 21' Telescopic multi-functional ladder for sale for 118 thats normally 300. 300 is overpriced compared to a werner at home depot but at 118, thats a great deal that Im buying. CT also has a good multimeter/circuit tester kit thats normally $30 thats on sale for $9.95. I bought a similar one from home depot in the past and it was $37, what a rip off.

Future Shop/Best buy have some good TV deals.
55" LG LED for $750
Samsung 46" LED for $499
Philips 39" LEG for $279

They also have the Microsoft Surface RT 32GB on sale from $349 to $199. Im sort of looking for an Android tablet these days but that price is pretty good value.

Where did you find the Philips for 279?

thats not a good meter - at all. In fact I would say that it is dangerous in the hands of most inexperienced users. Please look at the following video - yes I know its long. As a home owner or diy'er I dont think you should buy a Fluke but you can buy a decent Ideal or other reputable brand meter for not too much.

just got back from CT.

rotella for 34

the infamous mastercraft 400pc set for 175

8 gallon air compressor for 100

good enough deals for me

I got a digital caliper for $10, accurate to one thou, I compared it with a $200 caliper. Good bang for the buck, although the sliding mechanism is a bit rough

I picked up the same compressor. Lot's of decent stuff on sale so if the stuff you actually NEED is on sale it's a great time. Good deals on oil, tools/benches, home stuff. I made out well.

Best buy has a 32gb Microsoft surface RT for 199 on Friday

didnt that product royally flop? I hear future shop is blowing out 8 track players for $10!!!!

Actually they are a great tablet, if it had android, it would be the best on the market.

I tried the surface at Yorkdale and the keyboard was absolutely crap unless you like pushing the keys rather than having your finger glide over the keys when typing.

That's the touch keyboard, you buy the RT, for 199 and purchase the real keyboard for 129

And if grandma had wheels she'd be a bicycle

Just to confirm we're talking about the same product:

I type faster on the touchscreen than the keyboard (and usually typing on a touch screen is significantly slower than a real keyboard).

The keys don't register according to the touch, but actually pressing. Maybe I type too fast for the key to register? I found that they started registering the input keys when I typed at about 0.5 keys per sec - but then again, thats too slow for me (normal speed about 70 WPM).

That's why I said buy the real keyboard. That's the touch keyboard, but there's a real keyboard for it, with actual keys not a touch mat.
