Ahhhh I love the ideas urban people have about wild life. You guys crack me up.
On base, we can get close to bears... I mean close enough I could touch it. So no, bears don't just run away.
This time of year you need to be watchful about sows and cubs. So why take a chance of some kid being mauled by momma bear?
Fyi, relocated bears almost always come back. I know because we have bear issues at work, we relocate and the same bears come back... 3rd time is dead time.

Bear meat is my least favourite game meat, but I find it tasty. We usually grill it up or make sausages or hamburger with it. It's all in how it's cooked.
Some people hate venison, but when done right a venison roast is my #1 form of red meat!

This bear is damn close to being a record too... And only an adolescent, it would have filled out to be a monster! Ha... City boy cops crack me up too!

Funny us dumb rednecks can kill a bear at 300 meters with one shot to the heart.

Tactical team to neutralize a bear :lmao:

Was the bear reported to be armed???? :lmao:

...and I'm sure that tactical unit cost us taxpayers more money than a couple conservation officers. Not that I say don't kill it, my inlaws shoot nuisance bears all the time. Just more B.S. government cutbacks.

It looked adolescent in the video but the description of it being 8' tall made me LOL.

It's all relative.

this is retarded, i lived out in vancouver as a kid up near the mountains, garbage day would have us all on the balconies watching the bears wonder up and down the street sifting through the garbage...the garbage truck would come, garbage man wouldn't bat an eye and just pick up the cans and toss whatever in the truck and move on, bear just waits until he's done and then tips can over. we would be driving along the highway and a family of bears would scoot across the road, pick up some road kill and chew on it, people would stop and take pics. Heck, i've got some with me at 6yo chilling on some rocks with the bear 10ft away...sure you were careful, but they weren't a real menace...now them brown bears, yup, we didn't go near them...

as for the video, well, if the cops have their hands tied, someone has to learn some PR and get a response setup for this kinda stuff...it's canada, it happens...

Yeah, my folks get them in the yard once or twice a week when they're awake. We run into them in the bush all the time when we're out walking the dog or mountain biking. Can't really imagine a scenario where they'd need to be shot. I suppose we have to save the children though..sigh.. Humans suck.

I also heard that bear was gamy. Thanks for the info!

Except if they think you're messing with their food or their cubs...

To reduce gaminess of said wild game; simply let it thaw in a pot of Greek yogurt overnight. It'll help leech out any of the fatty acids stored in the meat.

Good tip James. I'll have to try that. I usually just use some dilute vinegar and/or salt water to soak out the gaminess (gameyness?).

Did either of you two bother to look to see where Mountainside Park is? It's in the middle of a subdivision 300 yards from the Costco at Brant and N. Service Rd. Were not talking about a park on the outskirts of town, we're talking downtown by the QEW+403 split.

Provincial budget cuts to wildlife control make this option no longer feasible. I wish they would make provincial budget cuts to our correctional system, and all pedophiles could get the three shotgun blast treatment.

i would love to volunteer to provide three shotgun treatment to those pedophiles.

Pffttt..man up! Quite frankly, wouldn't you like to see the bear take a few humans out? Man..especially people from Burlington..that'd be like losing a boil of the *** of Ontario...

One of my friends thinks it was actually in her backyard. She found a big shidoobie. Burlington has too many uptight people.
