Black bear in Burlington park

Such ********. Sedate it, and put it back into the wild.

Thanks to all the tree huggers ending the spring bear hunt, we now have issues like this.

On the other hand... Who wants some bear burgers?! Mmmmmmm tasty.

Awesome..I love sharing the world with people..they're WAY better than animals!!

I was told by a few hunting buddy's that bear meat is horrible.

This is my signature

poor bear :( why they killed him??? Couldn't they tranquilize him and put him back in the wild.

Provincial budget cuts to wildlife control make this option no longer feasible. I wish they would make provincial budget cuts to our correctional system, and all pedophiles could get the three shotgun blast treatment.

Amen, amen and a hallejulah to that.

So many people around here are furious over shooting this bear but I think they are pretty clueless and very hypocritical. It is a wild animal, not winnie the pooh for christsakes. These same people go to marineland and call animal control when a raccoon ***** in their back yard or euthanize a puppy if they are allergic to it. Maybe they sell their kids horse because the kid goes off to school and it ends up in a slaughterhouse hanging by its back leg still kicking. They drive their minivans past the pork plant where pens of pigs are packed so tight they have started to canabalise one another I'd take a gun shot to the head over that demise. Humanity is very disappointing.

Yeah, bear is amazing, so long as it was never within 50 miles of a garbage dump... Seriously, they'll eat anything and live; nothing like eating what they're eating...

I saw a mamma bear and cubs on the back of my property around this time last year (about 200 yards away from me), and there was no way in hell I was calling anyone about it. I'm rural though, and back onto marshland, cropland, and forests. I love the wildlife I see, but there is a town not too far away and if said bear was seen there it'd be good as dead with cubs left to die on their own...

Venom, your buddies were probably eating Bear that had been near dumps, as James said, or it was shot in the fall. There is so much fat on a bear in the fall that it is hard to remove it all, and it is very gamy. In the spring, the bear has consumed most of the fat and the meat is much better, almost sweet.

"One officer described the bear as about 500 pounds and eight feet tall when it was up on its hind legs."

LMFAO

We have grizzly/kodiak in Southern Ontario now?

The difference there is that those animals are bred for that demise, yea it's sad, but it's not the same. This is a clueless wild animal that just wandered to the wrong area, so they blow it's head off ?. What if some pit bull wandered into my yard ?, I better blow it's head off too ? I gotta be safe. Bears are generally afraid of anything that moves and will just run as soon as they see someone, I wish I could say the same for certain dogs with trashy owners.

I also heard that bear was gamy. Thanks for the info!

Except if they think you're messing with their food or their cubs...

Bears avoid humans. There was something wrong with the bear if it came into the area and relocating a bear has proven not to work, the bear will come back. Also, you don't need to be a good shot to get your gun license and bears are widely hunted. This bear likely got off easy, unfortunately.

Get between a mama and her cubs and let us know how your theory works out.

Pooh bear. I mean, poor bear. It looked adolescent in the video but the description of it being 8' tall made me LOL. And a tactical unit to neutralize a bear? Really?

Back in high school I spent a couple summers near palm springs, CA. A momma bear and her cubs routinely wandered onto the property to dig through the trash or just stroll around. If we wanted to get rid of 'em we'd just walk up and make some noise and they'd scamper away. One of the cubs got stuck in a tree once in a panic lol
